damn. another lost hope for some of us.

seems like its going to take a lot more to fix this mess then. they must have known of these issues before release.... oh well, refunded me but its a real damn shame.

    Possible Less Stutter Fix

For stuttering issues, in addition to disable first core of your CPU, you should also try to set both geometry quality options to minimum values : I can play now with more constant framerate with these settings.

Interesting note about disabling the first core. I'll have to try that on Apex. I don't own Horizon 3 because I refuse to test it out before even having a demo to try out.

Having said that, maybe some of you with issues can try the things that made Apex run like glass for me.

    1. Try changing audio settings from the default. In my case, going up from medium to high made stuttering much worse. Going down to low removed a good amount of stutters.

    2. Disable the Nvidia Control Panel Shader Cache option globally. This also helped with those hitches that would occur in the same spot for each respective track, like it was loading the next part of the track every lap.

    3. Changing your global GPU power state through NvidiaInspector from Optimal, Adaptive, or Prefer Max to 0x00000003 PREFERRED_PSTATE_PREFER_CONSISTENT_PERFORMANCE

    4. After launching the game, go through task manager and change the games priority. Try going both directions. For me going to the lowest priority helps maintain a 99% of the time stable 60FPS with V-sync. High priority made things worse, but why not try both?

I know apex and FH3 are different games, but why not give some of these a shot? It would be awesome if any of these managed to help somebody, especially since I do want to buy the game eventually.

I think it is a great idea, those with more money than sense basically make it a success by throwing over silly amounts of money, then i come along a few days later, get it cheaper, and a little while later i grab the DLC on sale, work's for me a treat as in the end i usually end up with the game they are sitting with for almost half the price, and all i had to do was keep my money in my pocket a little longer, i love it. ;) lol

Why custom liveries are so pixelated? :3eyes:

In FM6 Apex they look amazing while these seem to be too much compressed.

So this game seems to suffer from quite a lot of optimization issues on the CPU side.
That's surprising, this is a first party developper with extensive access to documentation and ressources, backed up by a most likely privileged relationship with Directx 12 teams and yet the game is plagued by a bug that maximizes one core leaving the GPU underfed.

I don't want to sound too harsh because I have limited visibility on what developping games using low level APIs on PC is like. I seem to recall a few big names developpers highlighting lacking tools and documentation on the PC side. A bit of a surprise considering how much more GPU architecture optimization is now required, you would expect the tool suite to reflect that.

Playground Games have managed to reproduce the issue so a fix should not take too long. I can't believe the game is genuinely poorly multithreaded this is impossible to conceive bearing in mind it was always built to run on 6.8 Jaguar cores. If you can't multithread the various components of the engine your game is dead in the water.

GameGPU benchmark. (EDIT: Seems to be missing the 480 GPU though.)

Nothing on PCGamesHardware.de yet, closest was a comparison between the PC and XBO edition of the game, next to a video about a Overwatch parody.

EDIT: CPU overkill perhaps but eh that should at least minimize any potential CPU bottlenecks. :p

Then again going back to PCGH they have this as something of a Gears of War 4 PC.

Might as well go for complete overkill eh? :p

EDIT: I guess Microsoft or well maybe more AMD and Nvidia and their co-operation with developers still isn't the greatest for DirectX 12, will Epic be the one developer to have functional multi-GPU support when Gears of War 4 is released?
(It's obviously being a problem to implement and even Nixxes who did add support for Rise of the Tomb Raider and it's DX12 render path with multi-GPU is taking their time with Mankind Divided so it must be a lot of work now that it's shifted to low-level API and the developers rather than AMD and Nvidia via drivers and compatibility profiles but maybe that could help too?)

For the record, playing in cockpit camera gives me ~10 fps boost (in surfers paradise) compared to external cameras.

Back with Quantum Break (And more recently also ReCore.) I personally just used PrtScn ("PrintScreen") and then copied the resulting image into Irfanview for saving in uncompressed PNG or high quality JPG but by now I'm guessing at least one or two media software should be able to capture via UWP, if not well I guess it's back to using print screen. :p
(Afterburner support would be nice but I'm guessing it won't be easy.)

This is what some were worried about when discussing the repercussions of largely transferring the optimization responsabilities from the driver/API to the actual people writing the code. They simply can't optimize for all and offer decent performance by themselves, at least with high level APIs we can always count on solid drivers (nothing leads me to doubt Nvidia Kepler drivers, their cards perform as well as they used to in Kepler era games) but with low level APIs we are completely at the mercy of whoever is using it.....

This is not good, this is not good at all.

Gamegpu are some liars. They lied about doom beta too.

Don't bother with them. They lie in everything.

Sorry I'm not going to completely dismiss a data point just because of some alledged mistakes in the past. Those results are shocking but they could very well be true.

It does play smoothly for me at 55-60FPS with Vsync on and 60FPS limit with everything maxed and the dynamic performance option disabled at 3840x2160, but that's on a Titan X.

I also had that problem until they fixed it last night. Now all the Ultimate Edition DLC works fine for me. I've also had the same problem on our Xbox One S in the living room (aka our UHD Blu-Ray player), though, so it wasn't just a PC related issue.

I finally managed to get pretty much completely (%99) smooth 30fps lock in all locations (Ultra @4k DSR), vip stuff is fixed as well. Now I can enjoy this...

I used nvidia inspector with 35 fps lock (30fps lock & vsync on in game). Previously I tried the same thing but it didn't work now I used the FRAME_LIMITER_V2 one and it worked.

By the way, I know it doesn't show OSD on UWP games but is latest afterburner beta capable of showing the frame rate on it's graph for UWP games?
