Lets say you are running a Ultra settings/TSAA8x, 1440p on a single 290X using Vulcan these should be definitely stable 60fps or more.

Agreed, considering I get 110-120 fps @ 1080p on my 390 on Ultra

In repository our Bratan' uploaded new dlls from 16.9.1b 13sept. just log into Safe mode and replace Dx9/10/11/12, Mantle & Vulcan/OGL and you ready to go.
you can also delete Driver Folder in new Driver package and get new Crimson for it :D (just leave everything but delete Drivers)

For proper ones we need to wait week or two 16.9.2 will be soon

You're right, I checked my system, seemed my 16GB RAM is, for one reason or another, showing up as 12GB. Swapped the RAM with 16GB from another rig and made sure that 16GB showed. Ran the same level again and yep, it fluctuated but never dipped below 60fps. Gameplay was buttery smooth, in fact, even when it dipped <60fps, it was still smooth when I played it with that 12GB RAM oddity.....

Can't report the idle clocks bug on pitcairn/tahiti for the Nth time, because links don't seem to be working for some days.

being european, i just assumed you knew what it meant.

    lol

for those that dont: Its russian slang for friend. as in brother.

Although it is odd that someone from HK uses it frequently.

    No disrespect intended, Onna.

FFS, black screen upon exiting any game with these drivers. Windows still responds. Only solution is going back to 16.8.3 (no problem with that one) or power down via power button and restart.

AMD monkey team at its best.

There are a lot of languages in Europe :D

(I just discovered I can't write in Greek in the forum and have it appear properly :p )

WHQL or not, this driver sucks. Intermittent flickering to display loss while overclocked, I have seen it all! And don't get me started on MadVR.

You blaming the driver becouse your heavily overclocked card is having black screens?

    Make sure card is stable.

Reading through this thread though it seems some other 7000 series / R280 series users have similar black-screen problems so it could also be something in the driver.
(The 280 was a tweaked 7000 no? I forgot the exact specifications but I remember reading something like that.)

The only experience I have with this particular issue was when I had my previous R9 290X GPU which had this fault for a few months and then for the Fury it was instead a occasional screen corruption or flickering problem though thankfully both of those should be fully fixed now although instead now it seems some older GPU models are experiencing issues with whatever AMD changed in 16.9.x and for some also 16.8.x if I remember it right.

Power saving adjustments perhaps or who knows, I don't think the current power efficiency toggle in CCC / CNext even does anything for the 7000 series or possibly even the 200 series as it's something for newer GPU models but perhaps Afterburner or similar could maintain voltage or clock speeds if that's what it comes down to?
(Slightly increased power draw though from the GPU not downclocking fully when idle but it shouldn't be a major issue though temps might rise a little bit too from this though during idle they should be pretty low so a small increase shouldn't be a huge concern.)

Yes, Jonas R9 280/280X are just higher clocked 7950/7970.

Idle bug is present with this driver just like in previous one (i have it right now while i write this) but performance clocks work just fine so i stopped thinking about it. AMD need to look into this asap tho.

As for black screens im first time hearing about it. One guy reported he gets with this driver when exiting a game which is really strange. I mean game works fine while playing but when he click exit screen goes black? lol
One should be sure if card is fully stable before blaming it on the driver. Black screens as far as i know are Vram related. It always happens when memory is pushed too far.

Power toggle is removed for gcn1.0 becouse it did nothing and i dont think its related.

Please forgive me becaus i'm new to this, this driver with 2 rx480s doesnt let me use 4k @60hz. I get the error that system has detected a problem and resolution has been lowered. However if i uninstall and driver clean then reinstall with just 1 rx480 60hz works just fine(i tried this with both cards to rule out one being faulty).

is there something i'm doing wrong? seems weird that CF cant do it and single card can. sorry if this is wrong place. tia

Do I come across as a n00b to you?

Raising the frequencies 10 MHz above stock can reproduce the same issues.
