After several days of testing I can say that these drivers fully solved the black and gray screen of death I had been experiencing many times before in windows 10, it never occurred with gaming.

I highly doubt that forum is actually monitored by AMD. It is mostly frequented by ultra-crazy fanboys who will troll the hell out of every thread that tries to complain or criticize anything related to AMD (the thread with the guy reporting that RX 480 killed his motherboard's PCI is probably a good example). The first thing we will be told after voicing our concern in that forum is that, if want support, we should stop using 4-year-old cards and upgrade...

Not this time Bratan', Info tells me that new driver is coming but it will be not-WHQL now.
I think that we will have Stable New ver. of drivers this month tho, but im not 100% sure.

But ! in this new Pre-WHQL 16.8.3 Mantle working in BF:4/DA:I and Civ BE :)
Last ones don't work properly, so they make some progress.

ATI/AMD has much, much more work now in Driver division:

Fiji = New Architecture = New Drivers
Polaris = New Architecture = New Drivers

Then we got DX9/10/11/12, OGL, Mantle, Vulcan :pc1:

    Hi all... First post here!

Quick question, what's the app people are using to edit the BIOS of a 480?

I'd like to do what joe187 did in post#57, and change the UVD clocks to max.

    In here -> http://www.overclock.net/t/1604567/polaris-bios-mod-rx480/0_50

    Polaris Bios Mod ( RX480 )

Polaris Bios are signature protected and cannot be modified unless the bios is re-signed at AMD server.

Don't know if any of this solutions work, maby it's to early?
But it will be avaible in time for sure :)

Seen that many times in there, and some of those are very active, if not admins. In the past when AMDs AHCI drivers were causing BSODs on boot on SB7xx due to a badly set Sata Multiplier registry entry (these faulty drivers were even pushed via WU!), every thread about it had the same kind of abusive responses from the same couple of residents to discredit original posters. Such as "There's no fault here." (these being on untargeted SB8xx platforms, when the reported problem was explicitly for SB7xx), or blaming users for using anything other than the MS generic driver and having dated hardware.

The AMD forum is actually heavily moderated, and things like that have stopped happening. Try posting there with the problem, I had no issue at all.

Ever since the rs2 builds have come out, support for my card has been tricky. I had to bisect almost a dozen drivers to see where things went to hell. Everything before 16.5.2 seems fine.

    Radeon 16.5.1 (16.15 branch): Works
    Radeon 16.5.2 (16.20 branch): Doesn't work
    Radeon 16.7.3 (16.30 branch): Doesn't work
    Radeon 16.8.3 (16.30 branch): Doesn't work

Anyone else having similar results with other GCN 1.0 hardware?

I'm on the stable release, but everything here seems to be working just fine.

16.8.3 works just fine here. I can even keep my 1165mhz overclock with these branch without having some weird artifacting i had with previous ones.

Also finding that 16.8.3 is holding (albeit slightly) higher stable overclocks than I could previously obtain

My gcn1 card likes 16.8.2 drivers for both Win 7&10 1607. No trouble with 2d clock being stuck or something silly like that. I was about to test 16.8.3 but why? For now 16.8.2 are ok, maybe I change them when MS screw again with some next version of windows and AMD will have to jump in to save us :)
The AMD drivers become boring nothing big happened for a long time...look at those poor nvidia bastards, their drives are real mess. I had a laptop with nvidia garbage in it(not my choice, HP didn't have right specs with AMD card in it at that time) it was hell. nvidia drivers interfered with audio drivers witch produced buzzing in 2d&3d. I had 3 newer games for the 1st one, one set of drivers, for second other set, then reload previous driver to play the first.
I'm not saying that AMD is a holly grail but you don't know what is trouble if you didn't tried nvidia! :puke2:

Well, I've found NVIDIA driver packages to have their own quirkiness. For example, using my GTX580 in this system, whenever I needed to update the drivers, I would have to do a full uninstall of the old ones first. Doing an upgrade install inevitably had some issue with it.

Having an AMD laptop (G73JH), I decided this time around to try my first AMD desktop card, partially due to the fact that AMD drivers were seemingly improving in quality and stability, and NVIDIA's were heading towards bloat and nagging quirks. The other factor was that my GTX580 died. :) And at the time the king of price vs performance was the 390, and I couldn't wait for the RX480.

Been very happy with the results thus far.
