Let me get this straight. If the 1060 is almost as fast as the 980ti, surely it renders the entire AMD range redundant?

I think what impresses me about that video is how close a 1060 can come to a stock 980 ti but a 1060 will not be better than a 980 ti even if Nvidia tweaks the drivers to get maximum out of the card and if you have the best overclockable 1060 in the world. The 1060 is just not capable and not meant to compete with the 980 ti. If you have a 980 ti best to keep it for now and wait for the next cards maybe then we will see even better gain. My opinion is that Pascal is just Maxwell on steroids with a bit more tweaking and efficiency. The only card that really blew me away was the Titan XP so maybe 1080ti will be something good. I can't wait to see what AMD do seeing as how good they do in Vulkan/DX12.

I do and I even bought a 1070 for it ;) Not wasting money on video cards every other year for 1440p or even UHD.

The reason I bought a 1440p is so that I don't have to worry about frame drops and my cards will last longer and the 165hz when i can push it is awesome. So best of both worlds. Gsync is such a game changer. I'm coming from a qnix qx2710 overclocked to 96hz but had massive stutter when frame dips below 96hz so gsync solved that for me and I'm ok with lowering a setting or 2 just have to find the right one that doesn't impact performance.

I say 1080p is also relevant today and much easier to drive 1080p 144hz. I tested out BF4 on test range and setting everything maxed out on 1080p I get 220-40fps and on 1440p I get 150-160fps same spot. I say if you heave competitively or just want your gpu to laast longer get a 24" 1080p 144hz and opt out for a gsync panel if you can.

So much bickering where one glance at the actual specs helps. Transistors, CUDA cores, ROPs, everything is higher on the 980ti, so of course the closer you get on the clocks, the clearer will be the 980ti win. Pascal wins by clockspeed only, except for the new Titan X, which actually trumps the 980ti and the old Titan X. But then again that one runs at lower clocks again and still blows everything out of the water. I'm really tempted to get two of these.

You dont get it do you? 480 is there with 1060. I suggest you take a look at new Deus Ex dx12 benchmark. Your 980ti is 3fps faster than rx480 and 1060. Is that worth it considering its 100£+ more? No.

    BS source. 480 isn't there with 1060. It's below.

Wait, are you saying that the 480 is up there with the 980ti? Lol

The only thing moved into "legacy state" are the pages on NV's website. Try FUDing harder next time.

Basing your opinion on a pre-release version of a DX12 renderer in an AMD sponsored title, are we? AMD fans sure are desperate.

Good thing I just sold my 980Ti and bought two 1060's for SLI.

Did you go for Pascal because of anything in particular? Because a second 980Ti would have served you well too, for a reasonable price.

They are all AMD sponsored (except TR) so what do you want me to do? You also completely pulled out of the context that i also mentioned 1060 not only 480. They are both very close to 980ti.

You are right tho, its only pre-release version and we should wait for 5th.

Historical data shows Riva TNT2 performs best when paired specifically with 1060.

Well, in fact, this is the first AMD sponsored title since Hitman launch in March of this year. (Or was AotS launched later? Don't remember.) Same engine, btw, same crappy performance on NV. And I'm not even sure why you mention DX12 as it's crappy in DX11 as well - thanks to AMD's meddling with the renderer. Nothing to do with what 980Ti can or can't, everything to do with AMD pushing their agenda into the game's code.

Here, an example of a game not fckd up by AMD's code: http://gamegpu.com/images/stories/Test_GPU/Action/ABZU/abzu_2560.jpg
Do note that for each AMD sponsored game there's like ten or more of games like Abzu.

WTF, looks like DE:MD runs like **** on GTX1070...38fps??? FuryX gets 43fps in DX11? Right...

Thankfully you can get >2x by lowering settings. I won't be surprised if the relative cards positioning would change as a result of this as well. These AMD sponsored titles are much worse than Gameworks, they purposefully sink NV h/w in favor of AMD while not even providing any advances in graphics (like HFTS, VXAO, etc.)

  19. Key fact to follow:

Testers who own both 980Ti and gtx 1070 say GTX 1070 is good 10+ fps better in games.

Now, when it comes to overclocking results: You cant Compare 1500mhz 980Ti to OC`s gtx 1070 or 80 due to their Low TDP limit.

When both will have unlocked TDP, wih max OC on them, only then will one make the final judgement. Not the lame 2Ghz oc with stock tdp limiter.
