Exact 400€ out of which 200€ is from my 290x. Roughly what these are going for at the moment for customs with some warranty left.

Any WoW players here? :D My fps is on 1200p @ Garrison on maxed settings anywhere from 33 to 90 (90 when looking at the ground). I have a feeling that my messed up mobo/cpu/ram combo is totally breaking this game, as my 290x actually had better performance lol and since I gave the for the other machine for a small while the fps there in WoW garrison is always over 60 and goes up towards 110.

your combo should be fine, i sit around my 120fps limit most of the time with a similiar config. Only on Stormwind i drop to 90-100 but EU-Aegwynn is extremely crowded. I'm using optimized settings tho, everything on ultra with 140% downscale and 4xMSSAA, only dropped all 3 sliders for Distance, Grass and the other thing to 7 and set Liquid Details to only High cause it dropped my FPS immensly since the update, oh and the Sliders at 6 are the old Ultra Settings just for information.

Edit: oh and sometimes the engine itself shows it's age pretty well, sometimes i get fps drops like mad but still CPU and GPU are literally doing nothing.

I might test out your settings to see how it spans out. My cpu is now 4.1ghz with single channel memory setup since motherboard is crap.

plus the fact only 4.1ghz and Single Channel, most people underrate that memory bandwidth can improve gameplay quite a lot.

Dual simply does not work in this setup. And after my last two z77 failed I couldn't buy one anymore :D now at times I can find some used ones but I decided I won't spend another euro on this platform. I had the 3770k running 4.8ghz before being forced to switch.

I ended up paying pretty much the same for GTX 1070. Well, about 230 € but it's worth it considering full 3 year warranty and power usage that's probably lower than GTX 970 (Gigabyte). That extra vram too which probably is not going to make any difference but what ever... :D

That single channel is probably bottlenecking your card quite hard in some situations. Planning to switch to Zen?

Currently I feel like the biggest problem with this system is the mobo. At least it has PCI-E 3.0 but it doesn't have enough SATA 6 Gb/s ports (only two intel ports, the rest are junk) let alone anything newer. At 4,4 GHz this offers plenty of power so maybe when Zen+ is out...

Zen or Broadwell-e. Anyway 6+ cores next time, had hard time finding a mobo for my 6 hdds/ssds anyway already now it's even harder :D Going to do some rendering among other things :) Interestingly enough games like Civ 5, WoT and some other heavy cpu games do not suffer from the issues with my setup. But then there are WoW and few others that have noticeable issues.

That 1070 will be a nice nice upgrade :) I am most likely running my 980ti low wattage considering I am gaming on 60fps vsync lock all the time.

^ depends on the game. For example I'm playing The Division atm a lot and @ 1080p60 vsync with Ultra preset the GPU usage is very high almost constantly.

So the 980 Ti is no longer overkill for 1080p60 with new and upcoming games.

Well yes but for most games it still is ^^ Even for division without vsync we should get somewhere around 80+ fps. All maxed on 1080p.

I was looking the JayzTwoCents last video and I thought to compare his GTX 1080 results vs my Zotac 980Ti Extreme.

    Zotac 980Ti Extreme@1536/8020

    GTX 1080 FE stock(throttling=1607-1890MHz)

GTX 1080 FE Max TDP/TEMP(no throttling, guessing ~1890MHz?)

Just put one of my 980ti,s in my office PC as the 660ti was making some strange noises (I will strip it and clean)
I Kept the 2nd 980ti I purchased in my PC it is the first time I have ran this card as a single GPU it boosts to 1520 on stock voltage I only added 100 to the core I might have to push this and see how far it goes.
My other 980ti with 100 added to the core boosts to 1470 which is the overclock I use in Sli

1520MHz on stock voltage(assuming 1.19~v?) is great! Good silicon!

Indeed! I'd give something valuable for that! It takes 1220mV to get my card stable at exactly 1400MHz.

    Mine does 1418MHZ @ stock 1.187v or 1.230v @ 1480MHz, funny how quickly it rises above 1465mhz.. 1.217v is ok from 1430 - 1465Mhz, can't get middle 1.20v working, lol just a jump from 1.187v to 1.217v..
But I seem to hit a voltage wall at 1480mhz

Koniakki whats your ASIC now? I see you're back to Amp!Extreme.
