Same price as the 480 here in the UK, no wonder they are finished.

Well thats good, right? I mean this card put a very impressive performance for its specs and its price.

Idk why people act so negative with every card AMD releases.

It's not like it's different with Nvidia.

First it was the name "1080" then it was the fan/shroud, then the throttling, then the image regression bug on AOTS, then FE pricing, then AIB pricing, then the supply issues.

The 1070 was just the price I guess, maybe supply too at the start.

The 1060 was the FE price, then the memory amount, then the memory bus, then DX12 performance compared to 480, etc.

People are going to find reasons to complain about everything. Although I will admit it's rare that people complain about the perf/$ being too good. Either way I'm sure AMD has people that weighed the two out and pushed that price for a reason. Honestly, my little sister has been talking about wanting a PC to play rocketleague and GTA5 on it -- might build one with one of these in it. It's cheap and she currently plays stuff on a xbox 360, so pretty much anything will be a upgrade graphically.

I agree....and looking at the OC'd 480's, the 470 is still the better buy.

It might not be a bad thing if it does cannibalise the 480, depends on the margins on each card.

This is a good little card for the money, gives people some options.

Nobody asking (maybe I´m just the only dumb here) how the **** is possible this GPU having like 50-70 °C in the VRM (?) area while ASUS and MSI reach crazy stuff like 90°C, is this thingy really ****ing diabolic? how the heck achieves such thing ... or is just FLIR failing or wtf ... I´m scared please an adult hold my hand :bat:

No one is bashing this card. It's a solid entry. It just makes me scratch my head on the RX480. Maybe should have launched this first and the RX480 as a RX470x.

Its ok, not that hard to understand. Here my vision:

    460 470 - Polaris 10
    480 490 - Vega 10

480 is underperforming compared to 470. AMD could start releasing Polaris 10 from 470 and make 480 as affordable version of Vega 10.

If 470 was released instead of 480, AMD would have much bigger impact. Alas, its all marketing and branding, so we end up current line up where AMD killing its own product (480)

What about 1060? If 470 is killing the 480 then its doing the same to 1060. AMD dont care when people are buying their cards being a 470 or 480.

Day late but not a dollar short. Following branding and numbers do that.
470 is what 480 should of been. Cheaper. 1060 would been destroyed for the same price it is now at day 0.

Anyway, I am glad AMD getting strong grasp in mid level. We finally get solid cards for lower price.

AMD do care which card they are buying if the margins are better on the 480, which also has some marketing behind it as well.

Competing against your self isn't ideal from a profit point of view.

Saying that, the 4gb cards are very nicely priced, less so for 8gb.

For the time being, try out the internal Catalyst Wattman implementation. The results yielded will be the very same as with AfterBurner.
