RX480 is a strong card no doubt, but the GTX 1060 is just better. It's more energy efficient, but is still able to outperform the RX480 in most titles....and believe me, DX11 won't be going anywhere for a long time. As for Vulkan, remember that ID have only done low level optimizations for AMD at this stage, and not NVidia. It's still a work in progress. They added shader intrinsic functions for AMD, but haven't done anything similar for NVidia. Asynchronous compute doesn't even work yet for NVidia. All in all, from what we've seen so far, Pascal is a much more impressive architecture than Polaris in my opinion. The power efficiency, performance and the clock speeds are just amazing.
My new GTX1060, replacing the nasty GTX960 2GB, is due for Friday. Sure, my CPU will botlleneck my card heavily, I just need a card that's better performing in newer titles. Games where my GTX960 just can't cut it.
@HellSpawn2097, i'd say you will be having better performance with your old 960 + i3 6100/cheap mobo/2.13Ghz 8gb ddr4 You actually can go for 6100/cheap z170 mobo and cheap 3.6ghz ram...and with gtx960 you will be having a huge difference compared to what you have now or will be having with gtx 1060 + Q6600...imo.
I dont see Q6600 giving you even a 50% true potencial of 1060. Bottleneck will probably be so huge that you wont any difference in most games.
CPU update will be something for next year. Then I'll have to update mainboard, CPU and Ram. Along with a SSD, and sata optical drives. also, a new version of windows, as my current OS is an OEM version.

GTX 1060 “SLI” Benchmark – Outperforms GTX 1080 with Explicit Multi-GPU http://www.gamersnexus.net/guides/2519-gtx-1060-sli-benchmark-in-ashes-multi-gpu
Did anyone actually bought this card becouse thread is dying from how much its popular. RX480 thread going strong. If so, post some 1060 experiences/benchmarks.
Try actually reading the thread? Nvidia just released 3 new gpus, as opposed to 1 mid range gpu by AMD. Nvidia owners mostly jumped on the 1070 or 1080 gpus. The 1070 thread has 26 pages, the 1080 thread has 76 pages. 480 thread has 14 pages. 480 thread isn't going that strong, really, compared to those threads. Any more questions?
yeah! How come your page looks different than mine with icons and bling? Mine looks like something from win 95
scroll down to the bottom left of this page, there's a drop down menu where you can change forum skins.
I might consider sidegrading to this just for the sake of getting something different without spending lots of money. I have small upgrade itch... I've had this GTX 970 for two years (soon).
That's silly. Save the $250, wait till you get another ~$120 and get a 1070. Why sidegrade when your 970 works fine, wouldn't that also be a waste of the money you spent on the 970 to get a GPU that hardly beats it?
GTX 1070 costs over 500 € here and that's a bit too much and I don't see it going down anytime soon. GTX 1060 is less than 300€. If I sell my GTX 970 now I would still get quite a bit of money out of it. Sidegrading would be rather cheap and I would get slightly more performance, more VRAM and quieter card (also it would cure my upgrade itch). It should do the job until Volta. Also VP9 hardware decoding support is a nice thing to have. But then again... Selling stuff is a pain in the ass.
Red team more passionate about their tech ...and I'm still thinking about which to buy. Sapphire RX 480 Nitro 1420 Mhz VS GTX 1060 2100 Mhz
I am upgrading from AMD 7870 to Zotac Amp version of the GTX 1060. Will get card in a few days when a friend brings it here in Brazil from US. Looking forward to it.
Unmodded Skyrim completely maxed out settings at 1440p has the card hovering around 55% usage and maxed out Diablo 3 capped at 60fps has the card below 60C and quite quiet, so I'm very happy! Undervolting does not seem to be possible. Hopefully try some GTA V over the WE.
I think you need to look at benchmarks from legit sites. That video was found to have some "creative editing" on the graphs.
