Nvidia lagging behind tech and api. What the hell are they charging such prices for?

Is brute force their new tactic now?

Unless there will be a second Titan at a later point, i'm really not that impressed. Still no hbm2.
They can't even produce enough 1080's for the consumers and now already a new Titan.

Brute force? What do you mean? Having a more efficient and effective product is "brute force"? Or is the sheer amount of power intimidating to your 'puny' SLI 580's...may they rest in peace. :)

So current Titan X is 1200-1450€ here. This will be closer 1500-2000€ then. Hah ok...

There will be a nice hole for Nvidia to fill between 1080 and Titan X it seems.

That definitely. Being limited to two cards in SLI, this or the followup generation will be my upgrade path, whenever my triple 980ti are not enough anymore. Will be some time.

It'll be 1500€ 100%. Other than the 1060, which has some competition in the 480, 1070, 1080 and now this Titan X is nvidia covering all GPU segments on its own, and pricing it however they want.

Well because, even if it performs better, if it doesn't do async compute just like AMD..well it's worse.

I'm already running some titles at 4K. Some 'older'
like Dirt2 for example, run amazing with everything cranked...once you get to about 2014 AAA titles I need to cut a few of the details down. I really don't want to get another 980ti and man..even though I shelled out 2K for a couple of OG TITAN. These @$1200...Still think I'll wait for volta.

Isn't there already an NVIDIA Maxwell card called the Titan X? Why couldn't they rename the card something different? That's sure to cause some confusion when ordering one as the previous also had 12 GB of VRAM I believe.

And speaking of VRAM... I'm confused over that amount as traditionally new models of NVIDIA cards have increased the amount of VRAM so I would have expected 16 GB with the GTX 1080 Ti having half that. They certainly aren't going to release a Ti model with only 6 GB of VRAM when the GTX 1070/1080 have 8 GB. I guess that pretty much hints that there won't be a GTX 1080 Ti after all...

No it's simple its there new way of saying bend over and take it,Nvidia will never ever show its hand like amd dose with the lay out of cards it will be highend, mid high,1080p so everyone jumps on the train for the 1080 knowing the titan is around and ditch 1080's to sell for 1 titan then to sell the titan for the Ti.

    Is the 300W a placeholder?

Of course it won't matter for enthusiasts but I'd have expected those cards to perform at a lower wattage than that.

Besides rending and playing at 4k, I dont see much use for this card. Its pointless at 1080p / 1440p.

See, I told many times that Nvidia is really kicking ass with the Pascal release!
They covered all fronts and can kick even more! And we are not even on HBM2 territory!
I think TSMC also should be lauded here - they really performed well this time, after years of being stuck at 28nm it looks like they made a real breakthrough.

I won't be buying this card, but for the sake of my love for technology superiority I would very much like to see it =)
    Can't wait for benchmarks!

Yes, this looks like very good card. And compute crowd will like it.
High fps gaming. Plus considering GTX 1080 price and performance. This does not look that expensive in comparison to GTX 980 vs Titan X.

But both 1080 and New Titan should cost bit less.

IF Titan X cost between 1500$-2000$ then having two 1080 SLi is far better choice.but i think this is gonna cost above 1500$ after all taxes in ur local retailer.

The lack of competition is getting really obvious. A 20% increase from the last model after the dollar has gone through the roof lately? I hope their sales tank outside the US. In Norway this card will be twice as expensive as the first Titan. I fully expect a potential 1080 Ti to be 3 times as expensive as the 580 was back in 2011 (considering exchange rates and inflation the 580 should cost between 70 and 75% more than it did if they released it now, which is the price point the 1080 Ti should end up at with healthy competition). After all the dollar has only risen 50% the last few years, while the actual prices have at least doubled.
