I was going for Kaby Lake because it was the last tock/optimization of 14 nm, but now that there's another tock featuring 6 cores then it's a no-brainer. :infinity:

A good coffee is worth waiting a little more.

About time they do this. Many people can't afford 6 core extreme cpus and the way games do scale it sounds like the 6 core should be a worthwhile upgrade for many users. It all depends on price though

Might just hold out til then. My 980ti and 2500k will serve me well.

Knowing me, I'll have the itch and will upgrade sooner. No way am I upgrading this 980ti to go with the 2500k.

    I guess the high-end i5 and all i7 will get 6 cores.

    Nah, I'm thinking i3 will be 2 cores, i5 4 cores and i7 6 cores

'18 seems rather late if Zen comes full throttle with 8/16 for consumers.

Well, that's only of course if Zen won't suck and its priced acceptably ;)

You do not know what you're missing.Much better than RedBull. :)

Normally i5 should have 6 cores, i7 should have 8 cores/16threads. But Intel know how to milk consumer market.

Nice, "might" be upgrading sooner than I thought. Wonder what clock speeds where looking at? 4ghz stock or no real point for me, to be honest 4ghz stock or no point for anyone... apart from maybe they will be cheaper?

I think i'll wait until 10nm Cannonlake before I upgrade from my 4790K. And even then it's still a maybe upgrade. Curse this brilliant chip!

It will be sad if AMD can't catch up to Intel at least a little bit. It's not looking good and I don't have high hopes for Zen. If they can't beat my i7 in single threaded apps with their highest tier CPU, it will be more Intel domination for the future.

If AMD manages to catch to intels lets say between haswell-e and broadwell-e performance with 8 core Zen. I am just going to get that. I am starting to hate my z68+3770k combo :D

@slyphnier coffee is always bad. Unless it does not taste like coffee, but then it ain't coffee. :D

What about the Broadwell E successor Skylake X, isn't that supposed to come late 2017 aswell?

tick, tock, tock, tock.... we can probably stop using that irrelevant model terminology now. This news should effectively kill Kaby Lake as anyone with Sandy-Skylake should easily hold over to Cannon or more wisely Tiger. Tiger is the optimization node release which is always Intel's most reliable and highest performing.
