4x DSR works amazingly well! It can also help on desktop like music production etc.

Mine also, first msi card btw too.

yea that 126% pl isn't doing anything in my case, could be a bug which is causing the card to crash on more than 50+ mhz.

Well that is what many people thought when they got the fury gpus, that someone later would unlock them, but to no vial.

Same with me, witcher 3, with hd texture mod and 1440p dsr with hairworks on low and msaa x4, and everything else maxed out, and 53+ fps at all time. Going to start a new game again, and enjoy it.

DSR is great, but VSR to be honest looked better, and more saturated and vivid.

Yeah i read some article with comparisson screens some time ago, but for now i don't see any blurriness of FXAA at all, which was the main complaint in that article.

Maybe they didn't set sharpenning correctly in the drivers? I also use SweetFX/reshade in almost every game, and it has it's own built-in sharpenning with bunch of controls. So in result - very crisp picture without any kind of blur.

Also one more setting affects blurring to my knowledge - Negative LoD Bias in Nvidia isnpector. Besides improving mip-map texture quality at negative values it also reduces blur.

I figured out how to overclock my CPU on my new MSi board. You just click the greyed item and start typing a number (or "auto"). For an otherwise relatively intuitive bios GUI, that's a puzzling interface.

Did a hack overclock on CPU to 4.7Ghz, bumped my overall score up to 6119. That'll do.

    GPU: MSi GTX1070 Gaming X (2088/9186)
    CPU: i7 4790K (4.7Ghz)
    Score: 6119
GPU: 6341 (dropped from 6395... meh)
    CPU: 5108

Dig that pair of 1080s. :nerd:

The 480 is a solid card. That whips my 970 and 780ti:

GPU: MSi GTX 970 Gaming (stock)
    CPU: i7 2600K (stock)
    Score: 3472
    GPU: 3495
    CPU: 3350

    GPU: EVGA 780Ti SC (stock)
    CPU: i7 860 (stock)
    Score: 3015
    GPU: 3164
    CPU: 2384

Thats to prevent accidental burned chips from younger lovers of hitting wrong buttons. Congratz on your oc!
At what voltage you made it without freezes for 4.7? Somewhere betwen 1.34-1.37? If lower than you got a very efficient chip.

I didn't bump voltage at all but it apparently isn't entirely stable.

It makes it through Time Strike numerous times @4.7 fine. 1st run of the 3dMark06 CPU bench crashed it though. Knocked it down to 4.6 for now as that's always worked. It's overdue for a proper overclock. Never bothered. 4790K stock is beast.

Can anyone please tell me if an i5-4690k is sufficient to run 2 x GTX 1070's. I had 2 x GTX 980's with no problem. I have 1000 watt PSU.

anthonyl, depends on resolution really. I would say it's enough or on par for 1440 and 2k. I might see it bottlenecking them in 1080 though, in certain scenes in cpu heavy-games. But considering you speak about SLI in a firtst place, then i suppose you go 1440p+

0blivious, you should not overclock cpu core clock without adjusting voltage, especially when one of your benches crashed. Either stock usage with turbo boost, or OC with appropriate voltage values. You can see approximate voltage values for your cpu at overclockers forum, there are often tables with exact clock and stable voltage for that clock for each CPU.

Overclock the living crap of it and you'll be fine. If you have that much to spend on pair 1070's you'll have some extra for some nice CPU cooling.

I don't really undertand the voltage control ... is in percentage :3eyes:.

I have the same card and clocks roughly the same, 1860-1898 but if set the Power Target at 110% locks at 1898mhz.

Thanks for that explanation, I'll give it a shot.

    edit:
Still get throttling down to around 2075MHz at 1093mV. Maybe once ambient temps here drop further I can maintain 2101MHz. For daily use I'm going to leave it at +100 core, +500 memory and leave voltage locked. Stays above 2000MHz even in this heat and that's good enough for me. The stock user controlled fan curve stays inaudible as well.

Yeah dude I end up throttling down to 2088 MHz too. I can't maintain 2100MHz+ over long sessions. My chip isn't that great. Some lucky people do however have golden chips that can do it.

Guys I am torn right now on which 1070 I should choose I was eying the Sea Hawk edition non EK but NewEgg wants over $500 bucks for it. What are other good cards to keep an eye out for? I was hoping to get a 2 fan card vs a 3 fan card to have a tad smaller card but the way the 2 fan cards are designed now they are pretty close to the same size as 3 fan cards. Anyone have any ideas.

I have an MSI GTX 1070 Gaming X and I am very happy with it, I came from a HD7970 (280x equivalent). That was the best card available when I purchased mine, because the EVGA FTW wasn't out.

Here is a massive advantage the EVGA FTW has over ANY other GTX 1070... It has a BIOS Switch and runs with 2 BIOS. Which means you can flash away on one side without worrying what happens on the other if you're into advanced overclocking (knowing you can always switch back). Also takes 2x 8 Pins of power (which means it has the biggest headroom when it comes to overclocking potential theoretically).

People just started getting it yesterday, should wait and hear their opinions on it.

I was originally planning on grabbing an FTW 1080 but they were so far out from shipping I just grabbed the 1070.

The 1070 FTW should be a solid choice. Loving my MSi Gaming X too. Silent cooling. Not even a hint of coil whine ever (both my 970s are a bit annoying with coil whine).

Yeah I heard great things about the 1080 version of the EVGA cards and Jay from JayztwoCents got 2 of them for SLI and both of them OC well over 2100mhz. I forget which version of the EVGA 1080 it is if it was the SC version or FTW. Also I was looking at the Zotac 1070 Amp edition as well and that card also has 2 8 pin Power connectors as well. It looks like the EVGA card is the card that I am looking for. It sound like that I can't escape that fan save life technology where the fans stay off until a certain temperature is reached. Pretty much the majority of cards these days have this technology.

Decided to upgrade soon. My 2 options are:

    MSI 1070 Armor OC - $739 AUD
    MSI 1070 Gaming X - $769 AUD

Obviously the Gaming X has a lot of great reviews but I can't find much information about the Armor OC. I'll be gaming at 1440p, manually overclocking and I'm on a tight budget so I'm leaning toward the cheaper card. I welcome all opinions.

The MSI armor oc card is just another MSI style cooler that is based off of the twin frozr V cooler. Either card is good option.

Since the price difference is minimal, and the Gaming X looks much better, i'd definitely go with the it. And it has a backplate.
