It doesn´t always work the way you say either I think, some games don´t even use streaming.

For games that don't even use streaming the amount of vram matters even more actually, since if you have less, instead of streaming you get "hard" loading.

I would still want the same frame rate than the guy who got the 3gb card and is using medium textures.

You will get the same framerate, less fluctuation and stutter, and higher quality effects that don't require computation.

What both (by AIBs I meant at least one)? MSI PCB has been shown already. Reference GTX 1060 is already so cheap that it's extremely unlikely to see downgraded designs in custom PCBs.

There are a couple of fallacies here.

    1) Seeing the MSI PCB doesn't mean that you have seen how other AIB PCBs will look like.

    2) Supposing that for some reason the 1060 is "cheap", while for the hardware it carries it's actually quite expensive.

I should have added "In games that use lots of memory". And I don´t know why are you defending this, it´s like getting a 2gb card like the gtx680 equipped with 76gb/s of bandwidth (good for 38fps @max memory access) instead of the 190 gb/s it had, or the 144 gb/s the gtx660 had... 6gb on 230gb/s is just poor.

It's about as real as it gets. The pictures on the pages are to hide watermarks...

It's as real as anything on the internet is, so who knows.

Does seem like the same wishful thinking we saw from AMD fans before the RX480 was released though.

The AMD driver in that is old.

The 16.6.2 are the same drivers the reference rx480 shipped with.

Artificially low fps scores where piling on AA/AF seems detrimental to RX480 performance vs GTX1060.

    @Monchis
    230gb/s is poor ?? lol

fact one, comparing perf based on vram bandwidth (from different archs) is BS.
just because an older card was "gimped" at a certain gb/s, doesnt mean a newer gen will have a problem.
fact is, compression and other things improve, so higher doesnt mean better/or needed.

980ti/titan black have 336, the 1080 has 320gb/s, yet is still faster.

anything below ~980ti perfm level won't have enough (fps) power to make use of +6gb vram for +80% of the games out there, unless "bad" code/resource management.

please show me 20 titles that need more than 6gb vram at 1080/1440 without using things like DSR...

The review killed this thread lol.

In the end, GTX1060 did infact beat RX480 in Tomb Raider and by higher margins than in DX12 games it loses to RX480 surprisingly. Turned-out to be a decent "all-rounder" card afterall.
