Bethesda sends word that this Monday Vulkan a patch for Doom for PC was released. The low-level Vulkan-api has been adeed and should bring higher frame rates compared to the OpenGL API.

    +1

Or maybe include the game in future reviews: GTX 1060 vs RX 480.

hmm ran couple of tests, opengl performs slightly better than Vulkan, 980TI on 1440p.

    Good stuff.

Looking forward to those HH as seeing conflicting information from people with close to identical hardware.

Unfortunately demo haven't received this update and vulkan API which is a bit sad as demo would be pretty nice tool for benchmarking.

Radeon results added, still working on final GTX 1070 results as I had a beta driver installed.

For the most part it would seem like AMD users ~25-30% increased performance and Nvidia is ~10% with the exception of that one guy on reddit testing in 4K who claims like a 35% loss or something dramatic.

The AMD gains seem pretty obvious considering a 980 beats a Fury X in OpenGL -- problem is most people are attributing that gain to Async and not Vulkan itself. I'm assuming there is no Async on/off option?

On my phone, but sure i saw claims of a 280x bring slower and also much faster.

Similar with the 980ti, one person claiming much faster and someone else saying no difference.

Okay, retested the 1070 on 368.69 WHQL (the recommended driver). OpenGL 4.5 is a little bit faster in this driver, Vulkan shows a tiny bit of negative scaling.

Looks like Nvidia has some work to do and will soon release a new driver. Benchmarks have been added in the post,

Noticed good 20-30 fps boost went from solid nonstop 90+ fps to 120-130fps. on 1200p. Sometimes hovering around 150. So nice.

Strange results for nVidia, considering that first public view of Vulkan Doom was on nVidia hardware.
Better fix this with next driver.

    What is there to fix?

What your seeing is the same thing that occurred with DX11 to DX12. Nvidia's cards are already performing where they are supposed to be even under OpenGL. AMD's weren't. A 980 beat a Fury X in OpenGL.

This discussion comes up with every new DX12/Vulkan title. Just because one company is seeing massive gains doesn't mean the other company has something wrong.

Possible reason to as why nvidia does not see huge gains is their dx11/opengl drivers take advantage of the hardware really well vs amds not so much. While dx12 and vulkan can better utilize amds and for nvidia it is more of the same more or less.
