And this means UE4(I hope ) WTF means and/or. How can I have DLC without main game in Steam? So I need that DLC for a complete free upgrade?
If the remasters fix issues in the first two BioShock titles... I'm definitely in. The original BioShock has issues on newer OS when using DX10. And BioShock 2's sound is messed up, and also runs into problems in DX10. If these problems are fixed I'm excited for these re-releases.
It's not UE4, it could possibly be the code-base from Infinite but we'll see. Some info. http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1240609 And comparisons. EDIT: Seems some of the images have been deleted.
Here we go again. Instead of moving forward in a franchise and making something new, let's just re-release stuff we made years ago and just tart it up a bit with a few new bells and whistles and call it 'Remastered' or 'HD' or summat so that we can get paid again for something we've already been paid for!! Yeah I know that its a free upgrade for people who already have the full package, but not everyone has. In my opinion. all this fluff should be just patched in to existing games. The same goes for Bethesda with the Skyrim Special Edition coming in September. This makes me so mad.
The updated versions look horrible. Loss of reflections and shadows in the new version. Just like the Arkham "remasters". I wonder if its the same studio handling these. Personally ill be sticking with the original versions thanks to those screens.
Well if these really are going to be free then I'm fine with it. The original Bioshock is still one of my favorite games ever but I wouldn't buy it again unless there was a significant graphical overhaul and these screens don't seem to show that. But if its free I'll definitely give it a go.
Specular lighting and reflections are completely gone. What a joke. Dont care if its free. They may act like they're doing people a favor, but really all they're doing is pushing a half arsed product out the door with minimum effort and having the audacity to call it a remaster. Some people are going to be paying for an inferior product than what they can already get for cheaper. DX10 version of retail Bioshock 1 still works perfectly on 8.1, so im going to stick that, and the of version so B2. Screw 2k. They can sod off. I mean...really? Those brick textures! The lack of reflections and the poorly remodeled bust of whats his face. Spoiler Original "remaster" The lazy ground retexture and lack of shadows... this is one of the laziest remasters ive ever seen. Spoiler Original "remaster" As someone else pointed out, removal of bubble and water distortion effects are just a few more lazy changes... Spoiler Original "remaster" The Lighthouse changes are even worse other than the sky box. Spoiler Original "remaster" - Terrible textures and lack of lighting and reflections.
Free is free , this is my favorite all time games and i own all of them ( best one for me in my opinion has been Bioschock 2 ). Time to replay all of them again once updated , but this time at 4K
doesn't matter if its free other people will be paying for it and by taking this as is, your telling publishers that these half arse port jobs are Ok. And for a pc forum thats always saying "enough with the resmasters"...
For real, what's with these remasters for modern games that don't need them? Especially when they remove all the lighting/shadows and don't add much of anything? I don't get it
Agreed. I wouldn't pay for them (unless on a sale price) but being free, there's nothing wrong with that. And at this point, of the people I know on Steam, every single one of them owns the BioShock series. I'll gladly replay the games once these re-releases come out. I'll judge for myself once I play them how much of an actual "remaster" they are. But, if they fix the DX10 issues in the first two games, and the sound glitches in BioShock 2, that alone will make them worthwhile.
Seriously, the Bioshock games have been at huge discounts at every Steam sale. If you were at all interested in the games you would have them by now.
Bioshock 1 and 2 HD (true remaster) which runs in the same engine as Infinity...that would have been perfect.
Exactly. BioShock 1 and 2 are four bucks a piece right now. Hell, I bet we'll see a jump in those two games sales over the next few days of the sale.
The free thing is speculation? I can't see mention of it on their blog. Love that wallpaper, there was a fan image on the same theme but it wasn't 16:9 I wish there was a version without the bioshock logo too.
Paid remaster version for PC was always with discount or loyalty program. 5-10$ if you have old version. It's that a lot of money? People worked on that remaster and it costs something
