Could be true about RX 480 vs 970,but 970 have no future.I dont want to start a flame war. Drivers will be improved with RX 480,I have no worries.
The 480's advantage is the power draw, and it is at the beginning of its driver cycle so there is always room for improvement.
Really ? GTX970 is a 145W card, RX480 is 150W and performe worst overall, where is the advantage, I don't get it.....
Yep, seems like it'll be around £175 in the UK. I'll wait for AIB and see how much they are. If around £200, I'll just buy a 970 for my brother. So the 480.... Not great performance but you get what you pay for, just. Looks like nvidia need not to bother with 1060. 970 has the 480 covered, no issues there. They only need the 1060 if the 970 is running super low. I'll keep an eye on the 970 pricing too, might still drop sub £200.
Ye in some games it does like Rise of the tomb rider, mirrors edge (albeit not much), Division, Just cause 3, Arkham Knight. And then it loses in few more and is on par in few more. The prices on 970 had to come down to sell the remaining stock and make room for 1060.
Why I'm so angry.... I was hopping to upgrade my gtx970 with rx480 , hopping that rx480 will edge the gtx980 , but is not able to edge even 970 .... I will stay with my 970 bios modded to 1450 Mhz for a while , AMD just disapointed me again
You were hoping to upgrade to a card that amd said would perform similarly? I could have taken the rx 480 only because I knew it would use less power then mine. But it actually performs rather well considering it does not have even close to the pixel fillrate 390 or 290x has. And well 40% less pixel fill rate then your stock 970. I will be only disappointed if they don't keep the price right as in it gets out of hand and not even near the 199/229 they were touting.
Get a 1070 if you want to upgrade. Or you dont have 500Eur to spend? You expected 200Eur card to replace your 300Eur card you bought a last year.
I don't have 500 eur to spend that is the reality . I was hopping rx480 would be a nice option , but no .... anyway my 970 is performing well in 1080p , in this moment I don;t have any option or a good reasons for replacing it
Yup and 390 is essentially almost 3 years old now. The performance jump is decent for a 200$ product it actually beats that 960 and 380 by quite a lot.
My budget in 200 eur +/- 50 eur for an upgrade for a performance like gtx980 . RX 480 is not an option because of his performance. I don't know much about gtx 1060 , maybe that will be the sweet spot
