The iq was bugged and not any higher on the 1080. That look us impossible to get. Same settings but looks different, the 1080 didn't have advantage or disadvantage vs 480'so there.

Wasn't that the extrapolation that Hilbert did, based on some numbers that AMD themselves had given?

Naah... I have open back headphones. Zero sound isolation.

More tests (XFX - comes with DP to DVI converter which is nice), inside normal case, 3dmark stress test:

Looking at those 3mark results. I get 1000 points more on my 290x in firestrike, which put the card between 290 and 290x.
    Not bad considering the price.
But cheap comes at the price of a cheap and crap cooler that performs bad and it gets really loud. It's 290x reference cooler problem all over again. I guess partners will come with better cooling solutiions but at a greater cost.

It will probably take a month before those appear.

I too have been watching all these benchmarks as I have a R9 290X and R9 290 that I usually run in crossfire and other then lower power and extra vram been trying to decide. My R9 290X is going off for RMA tomorrow, so I am now really trying to decide.

Here is my last 3dmark run just reg just on my R9 290 this morning.

    http://www.3dmark.com/fs/8967870

Which is showing just my R9 290 trading blows with the RX 480.

Interesting that I ran across this screen shot of a slide not posted widely on web from "supposedly" the same set post here which list 3dmarks and steamVR scores in the endnotes. I really can't say if this is faked or not.

This card is not really meant for R9 290/390(X) or GTX 970/980 owners. It will be offer about same performance. As the name and pricing suggests it's a R9 380X replacement - a mid range card. It offers good value for the money, not mind boggling performance.

    +1
This is why i am looking forward at this card. For me it can be perfect upgrade.
Probably best performance/$ deal at 200-300$ range, Also for me it is important that card support latest technology and smaller power usage is nice also

Thanks for putting this issue into perspective in reality that is what I have been thinking all along. It just seems people are are kind of looking through rose colored glasses and not overlooking the hype.

Yes I have seriously been thinking of getting one or 2, but think I really need to wait and see what happens with my RMA.

Also thanks for not fanboy'ing and keeping it real.

    Good for this architecture !
For example: Good temps for R290X was even 95deg ;-)

Anyways i will skip this RX480 if it not deliver at last 390X/980 Performance in Games
AIBs will give us this? If Yes i will run for some good OC AIB.
If not i will wait for Big Polaris with HBM (october?)
If not im waiting for Vega HBM_2 till next Year.

We will never see Polaris with HBM. If anything we will have GDDR5X cards. But i will not count on it to much. Best option will be to wait for small Vega(October?) and then decide to go with Rx 490/x or GTX 1070/80.
Also i think small Vega will use GDDR5X and HBM2 will be for big Vega(Fury line)
