If you could find 50 stock how could justify overcharging for them lol that makes no sense

Did you read article you linked?
And you are right, you will not be able to resell card at higher price since shops have them available.

You know how it looks like when sales are great? Store gets several cards. Sells them within 20 minutes.
Posts date of next delivery. Upon delivery they are already booked. And shop again list date of next delivery.

I would like to see how big real owners' threads on forums which require proof of owning card are for GTX 1070. Which is supposed to persuade 80% of people who are not willing to spend over $300 to buy it. It is simple RX-480 is not even in same price range to be considered as competition to 1070.

And anyone who thinks that 1070 is going to take real sales from RX-480 is out of his mind.
When nVidia releases GTX 1060 in appropriate price segment, then we can talk about nVidia vs AMD in under $300.

I guess the price drops have not quite reached there just yet (we are far from lucky... that 24% VAT makes sure of it). Eventually they will.

Hmmm... I think that the upcoming GTX 1060 is going to be rather interesting card (assuming that the price is going to be something like 250 € - 275 €). I'm pretty sure that it will most definitely be faster than GTX 970 so the battle between it and Polaris should be fierce, especially in price. I also wonder if NVIDIA plans to release GTX 1060 Ti (for around 300 - 325 €) that would be further cut down GTX 1070. AMD wouldn't have anything at that performance point (however... custom Polaris 10 cards are a question mark). Also I sure hope that NVIDIA doesn't plan on releasing 4GB version for GTX 1060. AMD should have avoided it too with Polaris.

Thing should get interesting in few months.

Do you get that 1070 is 1080 with 25% disabled? Cutting it even more to have other card in between 1060 and 1070 would be so big financial waste.

If anything will occupy that place it will be full and cut down chip used in 1060.
But you are right, there are going to be performance and price vacuums.
I really wonder why we did not see any performance/price charts yet.

They were always so popular. And this time around... It is one of the kind chart which actually shows how big/small each new card has on market.

It all depends on how many chips they get that aren't good enough for 1070.

It more looks like there are very few bad enough chips to even supply GTX 1070.
HH overclocked his GTX 1070 to 1975~2050MHz. And that's basically what 1080 does in average.
That leaves mainly defect in manufacturing which made TMU malfunctioning as source of GTX 1070. From clock perspective 16nm looks like there is very 'little' maximum clock variation.
And that's quite above official GTX 1080 specification.

We'll see later this year. I think further cut version is possible but it depends on how well the chip they use in GTX 1060 will perform.

    Well, AMD released this thing.
    https://www.techpowerup.com/gpudb/1860/radeon-hd-7870-xt
Tahiti cut down to 1536SPs. I remember it because i did read about it. But there are not that many around.

    Sold out G1 1080 @ 700 euro

Most FE are sold out now but stock is coming back, average FE price here is now around 720 euro; here it is available http://www.prokoo.com/scheda-video-inno3d-1080-founders-edition-8gbpciedvihdmi-p-162136.html

1070 avilability is only FE right now and all the stores are out of stock except one or two who decided to sell @ 520 euros lol.

    Other websites FE @ ~470

    720 - 22% VAT - ~35 euro other **** = 640 USD

lol, 700 Euro for a G1 1080 seems amazing thinking in Eastern Thief Europe the one I saw at a major store is 800 Euro equivalent at a VAT of 20%, lol.

One of the areas deemed in need to some attention is the primary graphics command stages which contains the Hardware Scheduler, Command Processor and Asynchronous Compute Engines. Here they’ve added a new primitive discard accelerator and hardware scheduler which are supposed to work in tandem to more efficiently route requests through the Global Data Share and onto the geometry processing elements.

The Asynchronous Compute Engines (which were already enhanced in Fiji-based cores) also receive an upgrade to improve their throughput. This bodes extremely well for DX12 performance since those ACE’s have already proven to be a key differentiator between AMD’s current GPU designs and their NVIDIA counterparts.

It looks like the Geometry Engines will get some attention as well. Since these processing stages live within the Shader Engines and contain the Geometry / Vertex Assemblers along with a dedicated tessellation unit in GCN-based cores, we can only assume this means improved tessellation and shader throughput. Once again though, the details about what’s been done aren’t being made public just yet.

The main Compute Units haven’t been overlooked either. The Fiji architecture’s implementation of Graphics Core Next kept the number of SIMD cores and Texture Units per CU constant from the previous generation while physically increasing the quantity of CUs per Shader Engine. In order to further boost performance in these stages, Polaris implements some key efficiency improvements and pre-fetch algorithms.

Rounding out the graphics side of this equation, AMD is looking at enhancing their memory compression algorithms and will be addressing L2 cache limitations.
It should be noted that the Polaris lineup could contain parts both with and without an HBM interface (edit: GDDR5X is also a possibility according to AMD).
This makes sense considering High Bandwidth Memory adds significantly to any BOM cost so integrating it into mid-range or lower-end GPUs may not be financially possible. So tommorow or maby today we will have some Benchmarks !

You are falling again man. Is that even real shop? Or is that best Italians can do?
They have all together 2 types of FEs listed and this one. They really have altogether 3 types of GTX 1080s listed.
And even with my poor Italian I guessed that "Disponibile" stands for "Available".
(I would not even order toothpick from eShop with such design.)

What you posted is worse than bad try on trolling. It is using fitting sample (no matter how small) to support your claim.

But congratulations, your argument is 'sound'. And you won prize again. I am out of this discussion as I see no point in continuing with it under given circumstance.

It's like (not safe for reading):
    A: Presents mathematical formula.
    B: Starts pooping...
A: Notices and includes effect of methane and biological waste into formula.
B: Presents product of his digestion as evidence that he is right in whatever it was about.
One person is not dumb (usually). But take thousand people and present them with something bad. One or two will get persuaded and buy. Once buying starts, other people are much easier to persuade.
So, at home, you are that one person. But, if you are presented with best selling product ever in history. You may as well enter 'herd mentality' state. Or not, but worth trying.
But I totally see this group of people able and willing to pay in GTX 1080 price range to drop their GTX 980Ti (at loss) which performs around same as GTX 1080 adn therefore making GTX 1080 as best selling card ever.
But wait: "GTX 1080 is way faster than even GTX 980 in SLI! It's insane!"

Just because you don't like the site design doesn't mean shop is any less good. You're basically unwilling to admit 1080 is selling well and you claim it isn't selling with zero evidence, in fact all evidence and statements point to the contrary.

Maybe G5X, but HBM is very unlikely because they would need a different die being produced.

12, that's number of people who own GTX 1080 here. I went through all 61 pages of GTX 1080 thread. And only 12 people got them.

We have people who prematurely dropped their GTX 980Ti, and so they bought. But anyone right in their mind will not buy GTX 1080 when there are custom GTX 980 Ti-s (new) going for 2/3rds of price.
OC vs OC, it is same performance at 2/3rds of price. Let it sink.

Compare it to best selling High End card ever. And let it sink.
Shopping today? Have money to burn? Well, get 980 Ti or two. Because those custom and great GTX 980Ti-s are sold at price point of GTX 1070.

Yes let's judge worldwide sales of a gpu based on how many people own it in a forum thread. 10/10 for mental gymnastics, olympic mental gymnastic gold medal

Do you remember storm of GTX 980Ti? Hell, even Fury/Fury X had here more owners here after launch (with very limited availability).
And that being said nVidia owners are here in around 3 against one AMD owner.

But if you want GTX 1080, you can buy them. So, why in forums, where you have 3 times as many people buying nVidia as AMD, we have so few GTX 1080 owners.

Or is it because anyone who shops in that price range has already GTX 980 Ti and therefore has no reason to 'upgrade' to GTX 1080.
And right after GTX 1070 launch as GTX 980Ti prices dropped to same level, GTX 980Ti became best card to get for money ever.

Yes, surely there is demographics which will go and get GTX 1080 or 1070 even while there is GTX 980Ti right next to them.
But if I am to be nice, I'll call them: "Not an hardware enthusiast. Not person making making decision before knowing..."
