Only that won't happen. 980ti is on another level.

Also, when 1070 is $379 it'll be just as good a value. You're wishing for something that won't happen.

It sounds like it will be another 8800GT level card.

I have a feeling it will be slower and/or more expensive than some people are expecting, but those will realistic expectations will be very happy.

8800gt was a lot closer to top end than 480. 480 is mid range.

The advantge of the consolle make the card generally more future proof...
See my 660ti, it was far better than 7870 when i took that...but now in a lot of titles the 7870 it's far way better.
And consider also that windows 10 native games where probably nvidia drivers could do less (for example quantum break) do not perform so well against radeon cards.

In the past ps3 had Nvidia and Xone AMD... now the consolles are all RED, to me this has been a great move by AMD.

Well 8800GT is better than 980Ti in pac-man!

    So yeah RIP RX 480.

Yes, at 1266 MHz. You would need to overclock it (roughly) to 1400 MHz to match GTX 970 at 1500 Mhz in this test.

Ah okay, based on firestrike scores right? Not flops

It's undeniably a good card for the money

Based on GPU score in Firestrike Extreme.

If the price for 8GB version is lower than 299 €, preferably closer to 275 € then yeah. GTX 970 prices have dropped way bellow 300 € so I hope that the 4GB version wouldn't be above 210 €.

If they can only match last gen GTX970, I don't see how this would earn much market shares back for AMD..

Looks like I'm waiting for Vega to bring back competition.

Yeah. That thing which is not gonna happen: "80% of people buying GPU will not suddenly move they spending cash way above $300."
    - - - -
Side question: "How is GTX 1070 price doing now? Anywhere near $380." Or is that 'when' hypothetical statement?

GTX 1070 does not have volume to get price anywhere near reasonable limit.

Our largest shop lists 19 different models of GTX 1070. 16 of them are in state "Pre-Order" because they did not receive single card of that manufacturer+model.
3 FE models are confirmed to be on the way. 2 of those incoming FE models will be delivered next week = 4 cards (Yes, 4 boxes with 4 cards inside).
3rd FE model which is incoming has 5 cards in boxes, but that batch will arrive 7. 7. 2016.
That means that our largest shop will not sell more than 9 GTX 1070 before 7. 7. 2016.

Our 2nd largest shop lists 23 models of GTX 1070. They have one FE card on store, anyone can pick it. But it is still there. Every day I check it twice. moment someone clicks buy, it will be gone. But it is still there.
And then they have one FE card incoming.
Remaining 21 models of GTX 1070 are in sad state. Nowhere to be seen. 10 of them are still without description because shop can't care less about something they do not expect to get and sell.

This shows that not only GTX 1070 is not available here in volume. But it shows that people are not buying them.
I would have thought that it is consequence of GTX 980Ti getting price cuts. But then they would be sold out or close to being sold out. No, even GTX 980Ti at pretty low price has nice stock.

You can blame it on our poor country all you want. But it is same all around world. GTX 1070 is being delivered in sub 10 parts per week to countries.
People are not crazy on buying GTX 980Ti even at that price which I consider great.

But you can get many GTX 1080s, not because nVidia makes large volumes, but because they are selling very few.

Finland is lucky place. Here, cheapest GTX 970 costs exactly 300 Euro, same way as it did last 6 months. But I am sure their prices will drop soon after RX-480 comes. Because stores have dozens of them available.
So, that's why we do not get them? And I wonder why you talk about UK. Tell us about your country. I even checked newegg and others around world...

Please, think about your source. What they write about nV/AMD. Then think about their source.
Really [H] makes cloud castles from Fzilla's not knowing 1st thing.
It is two days old article. They state that sales are so great that people are reselling at inflated price.
How do you get to even dream about reselling GTX 1080 at $1000 when you can buy it at practically any store anywhere in the world?

Source article is garbage. Its rating is 2 out of 5 stars because everyone sane thinks it is garbage.
Basically getting 2 stars is for effort spent on inventing that nonsense.

Not to disrespect but stores in the Czech republic lack a lot when it comes to stock, compared to the US or UK their selection of hardware is nowhere near.

Our big stores are part of European logistics chain. When you see HW available, it is not necessarily in our small country.
In case of those 1080s, they are sitting and waiting in Prague for someone to finally click "buy".

But if you think that Fzilla article Ieldra posted has any value. Go, buy 50 of them from our shops and sell each for $1000. Easy profit or sad face.

But you know you would end up with sad face.
