Well that is disappointing. Polaris 10 is fully active on the RX480.

    Why is that disappointing?

Im almost certain I am getting at least 1 8GB 480.

Quote "card will run in the 1267 MHz range on it's boost clock".

Hilbert Hagedoorn I really hope once you get your hands on the 460 and 470 you do Dota2, LoL, CSGO (perhaps overwatch and some other mainstream title) benchmark. And I really hope you include 720p as well, since many of us (especially csgo players) play at lower resolutions. In these forums it sounds like everyone goes for sli 980tis and plays 4k AAA titles on ultra, but actually I am quite sure there are a lot of people like me who couldn't care less about AAA titles which cost almost as much as a GPU and are played for only like 20 hours. So do us (the people who have spent 5000+ hours in CSGO/Dota/LoL) a favor and include benchmarks for those.

I really can't see how they surrendered in front of Nvidia.

It was always been about budget gaming cards.

With some leaked benchmarks of the rx 480, its in a very good spot. Especially for the 200$ price point

The GTX 960 sucked. Was barely above a GTX 760 and was a new architecture.
Nvidia is crap under their $350 gpus.

Thats a resonable request, but you are quite the minority in the forums.

Readers, thats a difference story for the articles.

    You never know.
Personally, even on a budget gpu, I would never play 720p. Thats so damn cpu dependant, its not even funny.

There is actually value here. I can see a few scenarios.

    1. If you want next-gen console experience (literally) coming out next year then get a RX480 instead of buying those consoles.

    2. Aots multi-gpu (and future DX12 games) with my GTX1070 might be really good.

    3. Cheap to have best of both worlds. Nvidia+AMD in one PC.

    4. Get benefits of both vendor's optimisations on a per game basis, run whichever is higher performance.

    5. Could even do RX480 crossfire while still having GTX1070 (potentially).

Sad, that RX-460 power consumption was not shown. But I think AMD can fit that into APU.

It has to eat less than 75W (including all additional power circuitry losses on PCB).
It is clocked at ~1100MHz or more.
So, having 1024SP in APU, clocked at around 900MHz may bring it down to maybe 35W.

I really can't wait to see Zen based APUs.

    Because I was hoping for a 480x that performs within 10% of a 1070 at $300.

And why would you downgrade to a 480?

If nVidia was multi GPU vendor friendly, I would have some decently powerful GTX as PhysX card.
While DX12 has abstraction for GPU and guys doing AotS took extra steps to use it, we should not see it as standard approach.
In the end they are considered as AMD PR and AMD loves to show that they are pushing good things for gamers forward.

And nVidia pushes... well, what is good for nVidia.

Well, it would be nice if those cards could work together like how I imagine. The reality is the Aots implementation is a showcase only and won't be used a lot moving forward.

I'm in business myself and tbh, there's nothing wrong with Nvidia's approach. I'm in the food trade and I can guarantee you I do absolutely nothing to help the competition. It's cut-throat as it is. I'm also not anti-consumer either. Then again, I don't have to worry about my food being compatible with other food. :nerd:

That most likely would be a 480X or RX 490 lower end Vega is my guess for that kinda gpu to compete near 1070.

Im wanting to play around with the 480.

My buddy has 1 of my old GTX 970s and badly wants my fury X.
So I can sell him my Fury X and get my old 970 to use till 480 launches, and use 1 or 2 till Vega drops. I will get what every Fury X replacement comes out with HBM2 8GB. I only play at 2560x1080 so even the RX 480 will do really good with it.

Rich, I'll ask you to do this thing for us.

Which nVidia's card scores around 3.6 in this VR bench, and how does it compare in performance with shown R9-380 in general gaming?

Is it about same? 20% faster/ slower? Give us ratio, so we can actually translate 6.3 vs 6.5 into general gaming :)
