yes but not frequently & the only solution is reboot.

 

Tried again today, to no avail unfortunately. Will still stick to .22 and wait for the next driver for another try.

 

Thought I might be the only one, glad to see this is happening to someone else. I'll probably drop back down to 365.19's.

Unless someone has a fix for this issue, its really weird.

Shuting down nvidia processes fixed it for me the other day, helper service and backend I think, anyway I disabled the nvidia backend from auto starting and problem has no returned, it´s a bit annoying since custom color profile for my second monitor wasn´t kicking in.

 

That nvidia backend crap is pretty annoying, as of lately I'm deleting all the useless installation folders so I can install the driver+ physx and nothing else.

 

Guys, how's the performance of this driver on Maxwell when compared to 365.19? Thanks.

 

A little bit better in RotTR DX12, the same in everything else.

Anyone compared "Optimum performance" with "Adaptive" mode?

 

on my system I had some random clock fluctuations in idle and weird fan spin up on my gpu that shouldn't spin up fans at all until 60 C, so I went back to adaptive again.

I think they need to polish optimum a bit more before it's as reliable as adaptive, at least on my system.

 

Doesn't that just disable the lower power p-states of the card from running?

At least that's what I thought it did, when 'Optimum Performance' is enabled I didn't see the card drop below the High Power/Boost speeds even when just running the desktop w/o any 3d applications.

 

that's maximum performance, optimal is the new one that is supposed to save even more power than adaptive.

There is none.

 

So I did some digging online and figured out it has to do with Multi Monitor setups. I guess its been a bug for a long time too.

I was able to fix without rebooting by going into Windows display settings and just disabling my second monitor, then re-enabling it.

Once I did that, when I opened up my Nvidia control panel it showed everything again.

Do you have a multi monitor setup?

 

Thank you so much guru3d for hosting this. Tried to download from nvidia and it was chugging along at 15 KB/s. 2.5 MB/s from guru3d.

 

the title is self explanatory. it's a back end. if you install several of the non essentials services and features, like geforce experience, 3d, hd audio, the backend is the GUI that allows you quick access to them from one single interface. it's pretty much cpanel that encompasses all of the nvidia software parts.

if you only install driver+phsyx it's a redundant feature, giving you access to nvidia cpanel via system tray, something you can do by right clicking on the desktop anyways.

 

Yep, can confirm this driver fixed the Steam tearing. Plus I think a recent client update disabled the smooth scrolling too.

Off to test further...
