DooM 4 Thread (Pt.1)

22 hours total for me. I think my first play through was 11 but I didn't really go out of my way to look for stuff. Then just replayed each level to find all the secrets.

 

I got through the UAC before i got ambushed by an imp and was perma killed.
Changed to Nightmare instead which is just as hard but you dont have to go back to start when you die atleast. But still, a couple of hits from an imp and you're dead.

Ultra Nightmare is really fun though, since you need to be way more careful and more tactical when you approach the demons.

 

Hey you guys who have already completed the game:

when you start a new game, are your abilities kept? Can you choose whether to keep them or not (new game vs. new game plus)?

 

No you start from scratch.

But you will still have them on the savegame you completed the game on, incase you want to replay single missions there.

 

^ excellent! That's actually what I was hoping for.

 

I'm at 36 hours total. And, 35 of those are to the campaign. I've put 1 hour into SnapMap, got the achievements there. And haven't gone back. Just disappointing.

But, the campaign is beyond glorious.

 

Oh yeah, double-shot-super-shotgunning demons like no ones business.. mancubi, revenants, hell knights, just shotgun fodder!

Can I Steam refund my other weapons, I have no further use for them...

Yeah I started the snapmap thing just to finish the achievements off but its so incredibly boring. I got through the basic tutorial but couldn't get through the advanced ones yet. Maybe one day I'll suffer through them.

 

The advanced ones are really, really short. Like a few seconds each. They were easy to knock out.

 

That one friggin' rune trial where you have one point of health and have to kill 8 demons? I thought you had to glory kill them... spent 45 minutes failing miserably. Then I read the instructions and nailed it in the first shot.:stewpid:

 

The Rune Trials are the one thing in the campaign I don't like.
They just don't fit with the pace of the gameplay IMO.

 

This game is a master piece. It runs great , it looks great, and it sounds great. The story telling was amazing as well.


There's nothing better than splitting a demon in half with a chainsaw on heavy metal music.

I still remember playing classic Doom back in the day. I was very impressed at that time and I was impressed now and still impressed. After beating the game , I am now replaying all the missions to find all the collectibles and then I will replay it again on ultra nightmare. I don't know why but it never gets old glory killing a hell night or a baron with a chainsaw ... This game rocks !!! If you are a true classic Doom fan you will definitely like the new Doom, because it is all about killing demons !!!

 

I dont even understand some of the challenges required to activate runes.

 

? Don't see how they don't fit.. I think they fit fine and add extra content to the game. Was very happy to see this as an extra feature throughout the campaign.

? Its not rocket science lol

 

I'm 16 hours in (according to steam) and am someway through Argent Tower (Destroyed). Loving the game.
But I keep getting crashes to desktop. My first few hours on day one went by no problems but I have had about 6 since that first day and 3 in the last hour or so. Becoming a pain and putting me off playing.
Shame that. But what a blast the game is when it plays fine.

 

Send the crash logs to them, apparently that's what that last 80MB~ update was for

 

Same for me. Had not a single crash during my entire first playthrough. Once I started replaying levels after that I would get at least one crash every time I started the game.

At least you finished it once.

I also have to close the game with task manager (when not crashing) every single time I quit the game. Doom 64 exe is still running after exit ?!!?

 

The weapon selection menu bugs out occasionally and it doesn't close when I let go of the key
