So the founders edition is more expensive and overclock better and has a better cooling .

will the 3rd brand makers will do it better and cheaper ? When will we be able to buy those cards already ?? I want to replace my 970.

    The price is completely artificial.

I don't know really. I actually believe that there aren't enough either GPUs or GDDR5x to go around at the moment, and that the prices are kept so high to reduce the initial number of orders.

Yah, I think there are serious allocation problems and this is going to be a messy 'launch' with very little actual stock.

You can't even preorder them in Canada (which is a first), they will only be available to order on the 27th and I suspect that those units will be gone within a few minutes.

Isn't this always the case though? Stock will be limited initially, prices inflated. Like it's always been

Were the Maxwell/Kepler launches like these? I honestly don't remember. I was always under the impression that NVIDIA was more or less doing "hard" launches, this feels more and more like a "soft" launch with very few ultra-expensive pieces out, just because they probably wanted to hit "release" before Q3 and impress investors in the next report.

Yeah, they were, prices were inflated and availability was low.

Meh. Now AIB and FE are releasing on the same day afaik, just give it a few days. All will be clear.

Shipments of 1080 have started arriving at major retailers as of yesterday

Reviews for AIB boards should be coming out this weekend

Kepler was pretty bad. 680's were hard to get for the first few weeks, 690's were even harder (although maybe it's because they used the same GPU now that I think about it and the 690's had two of them).

Maxwell, at least the 980, was easy to get. I dunno about the Ti.

PC Perspective said that AIB custom boards would be out about 2-4 weeks after Pascal launch. Some newer rumors say EVGA might have an entire line-up available on Friday, including custom boards (although i think that's just /r/nvidia looking too deeply into things).

The 980Ti was hard to get at release... took me 3 weeks after release to find an online store that didn't sell out in minutes so I could actually buy one.

980 had same problem when it was launched, low availability and inflated prices, at least here in Italy.

Reference 980ti was on sale for 900 euros when it launched. I bought my G1 gaming 980ti for 650 in October

The 980 was easy to get, but the 970 was not. Had to wait a couple months after release to get mine. Huge demand for it that outstripped initial supplies was the reason. The 980 did not suffer that problem.

Yeah, most of the high end cards of last few generation were in short supply, I remember 680, 780, 980 were all selling out like crazy. Never had a problem getting my 970 on the release day though. It seems to apply to the top end.
