Hilbert, if I may ask, what was the graphics score in the oced firestrike?

In demanding benchmarks 1080GTX is even faster than 980GTX SLI, so it was not only Nv marketing hype, but a fact.

These gta5 benchmark numbers are very low because game was fully maxed out (even advanced distance scaling sliders and options).

And I have seen demanding benchmarks where 1080GTX is even more than twice as fast compared to stock 980GTX, not to mention 970GTX, because in this NFS benchmark 1080GTX is 3x faster compared to 970GTX :)

In the most demanding area in witcher 3 (forest) 1080GTX avg. 75 fps, while stock 980GTX 35 fps.

Only in typical scenario 1080GTX isnt 2x faster, but still close

And it's much easier to see 1080GTX power in 4K resolution and dx12,
    [IMG]

And just look at minimal fps differences :)

Luckynumber8, it's not about benchmarks or actual scores, it's about expectation and inference.

When Nvidia makes comparisons with 980/980ti they refer to reference clocks, and in some cases when they say 1070 is faster than TX it's simply because of compute throughput.

Go look at reported compute throughput on official specifications, it's calculated at base clock for maxwell, with Pascal they calculate at boost clocks

Other than that, in actually games, nobody uses reference clocked 980s/Tis

That's all there is to it. People jump to conclusions because they want to believe pascal is some kind of elaborate scam

    Who gives a ****.

You don't see me batching and whining about nvidia lying, and I've been claiming that an overclocked 980ti will fare very well in comparisons with 1080, same can be said for 980, which very comfortably on 25%(1500 from 1200 boost)

People are just empty inside and they feel the need to project their inner emptiness on the real word by whining and making ridiculous claims. 1080 isn't good enough for you? How tragic.

Aelders@ in my previous post there are also OC numbers from Witcher 3 forest benchmark:

    -980GTX - 35 fps
    -980GTX OC - 43 fps

    -980ti stock - 45 fps
    -980ti OC - 59 fps

    -1080GTX - 70 fps
    -1080GTX OC - 80 fps

So even after OC, there's still 11 fps performance gap between 980ti OC, and stock 1080GTX :). That's impressive, and I cant imagine how fast full fat 1080ti will be.

I haven't seen such a result reproduced, is this using hairworks by any chance ? The only thing, on paper, that can account for such a big difference is geometry throughput; in that case this advantage should disappear at higher resolutions, or at least diminish significantly.

What clock are they running at effectively 1350+ boost is how much effectively do you know ?

Yes, it was with hairworks enabled

Yeah assuming this isn't an anomaly ( see review I posted, I'll check if hw is on there, not sure about resolution tested either >_> 980ti is at 1500mhz in computerbase.de review) then it's most certainly geometry performance kicking in. I posted something great somewhere but god knows where it went

CLOCKS REPORTED HERE ARE EFFECTIVE BOOST CLOCKS.

Why wouldn't you ignore it? It's clearly not an indication of how much they will cost once available. It's ridiculous how you latch onto inflated pre-release prices. $599 msrp for AIB. Even with $699 for founders the price in euros seems right considerinf taxes

Yeah, The Fury X had pricing all over the place leading up to it's release. People freaked then too, makes no sense. It's been like this forever.

Shops can price things as high as they want to, especially if they manage to get stock before other places.

Alot of the time these sites do this just so they get linked in threads like this.

Someone posted this in some spanish forums. It's supposed to be an excel that shops are getting with prices from a distributor. Most likely prices don't include any TAX or revenue for the shop. Prices in Euros.

    e 693.95 = £532.29 + 20% vat = £638.75

From that calculation, unless the initial price is wrong, then, there's a very high chance these cards are going to cost £680-700 on release.

edit: on the plus side, today I'm starting to see Titan X well under £600, GTX980Ti for under £400 and GTX980 for £260~ used...

I'm happy with my 980 Ti. With G-Sync, I'm pretty much good until they release something that surpasses this.

    Really... why crushing dreams NVIDIA?

Based on MSRP i expect €650,- here in Holland, that's including the 21% BTW. But i'm guessing it will be €700,- : /

Maybe i should look into a 1070 instead, since i'm only on 1200p anyways.
