Review: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 Founders edition graphics card

For sure, I fancy a new 1440p panel running 165Hz, i'll need all that 1080 grunt to push constant high framerates.

I'll def be checking out 1070 performance, as that'll all be released before I buy so if 1070 is enough for me I'll seriously consider it also.

Yeah don't understand people, all business's do it. I don't think even if AMD had a product it would be different, look how much that charged for FuryX or the Nano at release! Nano was well expensive lol

Any reason for all the comparisons to 980 SLI, seems like a stretch that people would expected it to be that fast.

 

also did anyone else notice that the 1080 seems to have low min fps values in over 50% of the benches?

 

Im seeing to many 1080 reviews, with different numbers from one to another... weird

Yes ofcorse there is many reasons.
First one is, GTX 1080 was promoted as kicking ass 980 SLI!
Second is.. When people considering upgrade, they want see clear benchmark, not some foggy infos.
Its can make people do wrong decission then.
But that is obvious... :3eyes:

 

yeah i am talking about all reviews that include min fps numbers in first place.
and in all those reviews it seems 1080 has an interesting min/avg ratio...
lower min but higher avg in many cases.

 

It is as soon as it's released. It will be the fastest/most advanced GPU on the market. Doesn't that qualify as top end?

There's always something better coming but for the 6 months or more we have to wait for a Ti (or AMD...?), this will be the best card you can buy.


4K is killing my 970 so I need something ASAP. If the 1080 trumps the 1070 by more than the 980 did the 970, I'm going to get the 1080. I need every frame. (and prefer 1 GPU)

Its happen most evry SLI/CF configurations.
So U hit in SLI/CF weak point generally.

EDIT : for cleaner view You should learn timeline FPS benchmarks, like FCAT - how this minimum FPS look in practice.

 

Am sure the drivers will be somewhat sorted by launch day.
Now all i got to do is save my pennies. Not easy lol.

 

no i mean a single 1080 compared to a single 980 Ti for example.
metro, gta v , always single 1080 has very low min fps

i am just curious as to why there is a discrepancy between min and avg in some instances. does this have to do with the lower memory bus bandwidth compared to 980Ti?

This is called an observed FPS graph. You can tell by the label on the top that says "Observed FPS". It shows the framerate over a period of time. When the little line for the 1080 goes to it's lowest point, you can take a ruler and see where it matches up to the Y Axis. That's your minimum framerate.
