The nightmare setting is there but indeed you get a warning. It doesn't say how much vram you need though.

I'm quite happy with running everything at high anyway, to get pretty much solid 60fps at 1440p. Need to upgrade to play with higher settings.

It's not exactly story driven. It's very similar to the original Doom games, you have E1M1 as level 1, classic stuff. Somehow this really reminds me of Quake 2 more than anything though. The action is manic, game looks gorgeous and plays really well, if not quite old school.

These things really make me mad, nvidia with there marketing stuff buy a gtx 1080 for max settings or use a titan x what the hell is nvidia thinking.

The game eats like 5+ gb of vram on nightmare and thats not even maxing out all nightmare options :(

Why are you blaming Nvidia? You've already noted 5GB+ of vram usage (non-maxed-out) when you only have 6GB.

No i dont own the game yet i heard it from some guys around the web and other forums.

To play on nightmare with all settings maxed [all nightmare] u need an titan x, thats what they say.

That's nothing to do with NVIDA though, the game devs made those requirements

    Or GTX980m, R9 390, R9 390X, but, GTX980m isn't even as fast as a GTX970.

Personally, blame the devs, but, this has nothing to do with Nvidia.

Why ? Because 1080 has 8gb vram. All is marketing these days.

When i finished downloading, will see how the titan x could handle the nightmare setting, i bet it won't do 60fps at 4K...

I'm not able to play this yet since im not home, but from what i'm reading i should be happy with High settings with my single 980 Ti? Or maybe Ultra?

Ah Thanks. Ok, well made no change to framerate for me?? Get sli working and 4k will be easy. Just set my gpu oc on and extra 10fps taking it to 90 ish. Very well optimized game.

I don't think the Nightmare settings will affect framerate much on a 980Ti GPU, it's only for shadows and texture cache too with the others capping out on High or Ultra. :)
(The higher quality shadows might be a bit more demanding but the game still runs at around 50 - 60 FPS for me besides cutscenes were a heavy DOF effect can see it drop down to the 40's which is pretty good seeing how AMD is with OpenGL, makes me wonder how Vulkan will be once it's added in a future game update.)

EDIT: Besides some DirectX 12 stuff the 980 Ti is the fastest current single-GPU graphics card after all, might still be even when the 1070 and 1080 hits in a few months or at the very least it won't be far behind I'd imagine.
(If Vulkan can make the game run at near-200 FPS on a 1080 at I think it was high settings and 1920x1080 then a 980Ti should be capable of driving 60 or higher at ultra, besides cutscenes the current OpenGL API is probably enough already to maintain near-60 frames per second on a 980Ti through the majority of the game as it is pretty well optimized.)

EDIT: Plus in upcoming driver releases from both AMD and Nvidia GPU performance is bound to increase further under both OpenGL 4.x and Vulkan 1.x :)

I agree, very well optimized so I can only imagine how good it could be if nvidia sort out SLI support. It kind of works already.
