DooM 4 Thread (Pt.1)

I dont know, i dont feel this like doom, too cartoonist and to much bouncing around instead of checking every dark corner to see if something appears

 

Well, it's not like doom 3, yeah.

 

I was referring to games of recent years like Rage/Wolfenstein that due to their 60fps console framerate were comparatively light so had no issues on PC hardware.

I obviously don't know for certain, but every OGL benchmark has a DX path that at the very least performs the same, but usually better.
Using OGL offered no positives for anyone, but lots of negatives for AMD users.

There isn't anything wrong with DX12 from an api point of view, AOTS is proof of that.
The issue has been most devs making a mess of things, Vulkan will not be immune from that, if anything it will be even worse as it's even more a one size fits all api.

 

Hey guys, would anyone be able to give me a heads up on what settings could I expect to play this new Doom on? If anyone tested Doom during the beta phase with comparable hardware?

I figured that's what you meant. I was just clarifying that I was referring to their entire catalog. Past and present.

That was what I was thinking as well.
Or course we're not checking dark corners in this new Doom. It's more in style with the originals.
Doom 3 was slower, check the corners styled game. And, the biggest deviation from the series. Yet, people were more accepting of it then they are being of this new one.

 

I like how the author got the games title right in the thread title box.

 

There were few examples of good DX10/10.1 games. Far Cry 2 ran better in DX10 than DX9 at the same settings.
Just Cause 2 was a DX10.1 game which received alot of praise for its performance and visuals.

An issue comparing DX9 to DX10 though is that many games activated more features in DX10 than DX9, even if the DX10 path stack to low.


And plenty of games with DX11 support supported DX10 as well. Civilization V, BF3/BF4, GTA V for example.

Been a long time since I've been this excited for a new game.
As hyped as I was for Wolfenstein: The New Order, still wasn't this hyped.

 

The thread's 5 years old. That's how long it has been lol. Any word of a pre-load?

 

Pre-load will start on the 11th.

 

Back in the days when I started playing Half life DM, I can say with certainty that the OGL api was better than dx. This must have been dx8 period(?). DX in HLDM had noticeably worse control latency so I always used OGL. Today, dx is removed from HL altogether and uses OGL exclusively.

3 Days for Doom?

Cant waiiit.

 

Ordered the collectors edition from Amazon. I hope I get it on Friday or earlier.

 

I 100% won't get mine by then lol, but then again I'm a bit busy the next 2-3 weeks anyway, so I don't mind that much. I'm just curious when they dispatch the order.

 

Amazon actually says delivery date of May 17th on mine. :bang:
Oh well, now I have time to finish my replay of the other games.

 

What shipping did you select?

If you picked One Day, or sometimes even Two Day shipping... with pre-orders, amazon makes sure they are delivered on release day.

When I ordered Fallout 4 and Arkham Knight, both were delivered on release day. Even though amazon showed them expecting delivery a few days later.
Once they ship, that date changes.

 

Ordered from G2A for 37 bucks. Not bad

 

For me it will take at least 10 days, considering the distance. It's been like 4 years since I last ordered from Amazon US, last time I think it was the Star Wars Old Republic CE (which wasn't available anywhere else, just like this time). Hopefully the box will survive the trip. :banana:

 

I can grab it today...shipped tomorrow.....waiting for my new monitor tho
