It's system ram. I can only set it to high, with 970 and 8gb system ram. I can set everything else to max though, I keep AA at x4, and it runs like butter and looks great.
Yeah. Seems you NEED 16gb system ram to set Render quality to ultra. I have 8gb system and can only set to high. Still looks great though.
Well the game gfx looks bland, only cars looked good by that 1st initial race. As for dx12 magic, It uses only 2 threads to 100%, rest somewhat in 10-15% area.. Talk about dx12 multi and what not.. :bang:
I did, and restarted, this time with custom map that forest etc at rainy day. Ok it looked a bit better but dunno, nothing special. Seen better about gfx, mine goes all to ultra, most sliders, 2-3 are max at high or on/off.. Also game has up to 8xmsaa.
^ Dirt Rally, Grid2, New NFS,.. Btw Ultra makes only switch to 4K, high and medium is 1080p.. Rest stays at max as it was vs Low 1366x768
played the last two, didnt personally think they looked better. but its all personal taste and for some reason have stuck the cockpit mode on apex, unlike the others. im having some issues with the graphics options resetting and some stuttering, which would be nice to fix if possible. but otherwise I would say this has me extremely hopeful for the full forza games in the future.
It may not be the most incredible looking game in the world, but keep in mind that it was built for relatively weak console hardware. All things considered and the fact that this is *not* Turn10's first actual PC game, I think it is remarkable so far. I updated to Crimson 16.5.1 and things have been so much better. Night and day difference from Crimson 16.4.1's. I have every single setting maxed out and even in the rain with 23 other cars I have never had a dip under 60FPS, save for a small stutter the first time I did Spa in the rain. I am enjoying it even though it is lacking in content, but the free price tag and the fact that I'm helping make the future Forza games better make it worth it.
It is VRAM. My 270X has 2 gigs and I can only go up to medium. It also seems to need the 16.5.1 Crimson driver to work right.
If you disable the optimization thing, or whatever it was called, you will have access to full settings list, had high as limit at first aswell, after i disabled that i set everything except for msaa to ultra, left msaa at 2x and runs the same as high before, i noticed i can change to ultra
Just finished a few more tours and did some free play. I'm doing a few races at 1080p with all max settings which are buttery smooth, then changing to 1440p and dropping to 4xMSAA and doing some racing. I can feel it juuuuuuuuuuuust about being too much for my rig, but I only get a single half second hitch or stutter during an entire race while @1440p with maxed settings except for 4xMSAA. I feel like after they start patching and improving the game and DX12 I should be just fine at the higher settings, or by official release I'll have a Polaris 10 card. Either way this game is performing very well, even with the odd CPU usage going on. For example, in menus cores 1 and 3 are pegged at 100% while 2 and 4 are around 15%-20%. During a race in the rain with all 24 cars cores 1 and 3 remain at 100% while 2 is around 60%-70%, but 4 is still around 15%-20%. The ONLY time I've gotten 100% usage out of all cores, according to logs, is during loading screens. Maybe this is a DX12 quirk, or a bug to be fixed, but I hate having extra power that isn't being used. :nerd:
