That's a very ridiculous and bias "comparison".
Most 980ti can gain 20% to 25% FPS increase from overclocking without sweat.

Nah, stock vs stock is pretty fair really, just needs pointing out because as you say, most people will overclock their cards.

    I personally find it hard to wrap my head around how Hitman is mentioned as evidence of AMD's DX12 advantage when;

    A). Fury X gains nothing in DX12, 390x does
B). Fury X and 390x perform eerily close to each other
C). IO claim async isn't worth the effort

The real DX12 posterboy should be AotS, that's it. The only other stable DX12 title worth mentioning is Tomb Raider

I'm not sure you understood my point. So what ?

We already know async doesn't give AMD an edge in DOOM

Indeed. If not Doom even performs slightly better on 980ti vs Fury X. As for upcoming TW and Deus Ex we will see.

Looking At the history of IDtech , im surprised that the 980TI dont push twice the performance with it lol.

Anyway, the game is still not out, i will not speak about performance before it is and final drivers are up and rolling for both Nvidia and AMD.

You are right, the FuryX shoould be overclocked by 10%..

That is because it is not in the doom beta.. and the beta was only mp with locked settings.. doom beta does not have hw async in it.. the final release will have it

and as for the edge a stock fury x i only 1.2 fps slower vs the factory oc 980ti

Lets wait and see. MP and SP can differ when it comes to performance.

10% increase on core is the same as 40% on core and 20% on memory on 980ti?
    Nah.

It was a joke my friend, if you think it is not fair to use a reference gpu vs a reference one or maybe it is me who have not understand the joke.... we should maybe only use overclocked gpu's vs reference gpu's.

this said good luck to match HBM1 bandwith overclocked on a furyX at 1024GB/s

    Link to 1TB/s benchmark?

Also both of you need to stop ninja editing your posts like several times in a minute.

Edit: Jeez you edited it again? Literally like 9 edits.

Do i have change anything in my post after "Ninja" edit who could have change the sense of it outside correct the english ?

Ofc you will need some LN2 for achieve high core speed, but for HBM it was really not needed. when you have the tool up for unlock it.

Your post differs from my quote now because you changed it and I sat here and refreshed the page and watched it change like 3 times before that lol.

I don't really care, I'm just trying to respond and you keep changing it.

I don't understand what your saying?

Your post that I quoted, originally referred to a 10% overclock on Fury X core, you edited it to a 200% overclock on the memory. I was going to respond to the original one, but by the time i hit the quote button you edited it, so I didn't respond to it.

Again, I don't care -- I edit multiple times too, its just that both you and Evil edited your posts multiple times in like less than a minute of posting, I thought it was funny.

The joke was more that initially the FuryX was 10% under the 980TI in term oof performance, and now peoples, said that, for be fair, you need a 25% overclock on the 980TI under DX12 to be fair ...

I have think that the joke was a bit too much so delete it. ( was ofc refer to the post of evil )

Why is that a joke ? The Fury X still is slower than the 980ti in most games

I don't know why he thinks it's not fair comparing a reference 980ti to a reference Fury X; it just isn't a very good performance metric for a potential buyer because nobody buys reference cards.

In any case, Hitman performance being bad isn't DX12 specific, I would buy the game and test it myself if I considered always-online-DRM acceptable.

This is exactly the kind of game I would feel vindicated in pirating
