Romero/Carmack to make new game?

Definitely. His work was amazing in the original Doom/Quake titles from the mid 90's. That's where and how it all began.

 

Just more awesome sauce with the announcement! Adrian Carmack is a great designer. Loved his Doom creations. Even though he looked tamed in the video, I hope he still has something sinister left in his mind for us.

And all the good parts of Doom 1/2 and Quake 1 were from Romero!

Can't wait for these two guys to create an FPS even better then dare I say Brutal Doom! They should totally go over the top on that.

 

There's nothing that shows that Adrian is "tamed".
How one looks has nothing to do with what they can create.

I'm glad to see FPS games returning to what I consider the great place they used to be.
Less and less realistic, modern war themed sludge.

And more titles like Shadow Warrior (2013)... the newest Wolfensteins and now Doom.
Add in the odd little hits like BulletStorm, Singularity and others. With Doom, Romero's new one... SW2... and hopefully many, many more.
FPS are getting good again. And it makes me so happy.

 

Agreed, I've had more fun playing bullet storm, shadow warrior, hardwire and painkiller than with these modern battle duty churn outs. I'd love for a return to form of fps shooter's roots, I mean you can still have cod 56 or battlefield but some old school dude with 10+ weapon loadouts and good old fashioned action & boss fights would be fantastic.

 

I predict a Daikatana remake

 

Romero already said it'd be a strong return to "old school FPS design".

And, as for Daikatana, he's very open about the game and all it's problems. Even stating at one time that him being in complete control was a huge mistake.
That he should've had a project manager and not tried to control everything.

 

Probably alone in this but I'd buy it. :smoke:
