First it was a fury now it is a 390x Fury edit to 390 so its not my problem.

I mean even if it did say Fury, how is a Fury performing 15% faster than a 980 bad? 10% more cost for 15% more performance. Seems good to me.

Right where it will be with async compute being active in a PC title - +10% to DX11 on average.

Ok, this is actually a bit less than even I was expecting from concurrent async on AMD. I thought we'll see more of a +20% result.

980 is a bit pointless card right now as both 390 and 390X are performing close to it while costing way less. But this has nothing to do with DX12 however as the same is happening in DX11 in Hitman - the game's engine is just optimized for AMD's h/w.

Yeah I know, I'm just saying -- his post kind of made no sense considering the results lol

Urgh... it's disappointing to see the GTX 980 Ti performing 10 fps lower in both the average and minimum framerates in DX12 mode than DX11 at 1440p. Now I don't know whether DX12 has additional effects over DX11 for Hitman but I can't help but feel deeply underwhelmed as it is yet another DX12 benchmark that performs worst than DX11. That is not what I was expecting to see at all. :(

    Wha?..

    980Ti Strix (min/ave, 2560x1440, Hitman):
    DX11: 54,0/61,0
    DX12: 54,0/59,2

DX12 is less than 2 fps slower, in an AMD DX12 title, running on a half year old DX12 driver which doesn't support concurrent async yet. What are you talking about?

    In 1080p 980Ti is 6 fps faster in DX12.
    In 3440x1440 it's 1,5 fps slower in DX12.
    In 4K it's 0,5 fps slower in DX12.

I'd say these are good results for NV's DX12 driver in an AMD optimized DX12 title.

Slide shows 70/64 fps for ave./min. framerate at 2560x1440 under DX11 and just 59/54 fps under DX12 for the 980 Ti Strix. Dunno about you but that is really nothing to be pleased about... :3eyes:

No look again, make sure you set drop down settings (res) the same in Dx12 and Dx11.

Give it time for Dev's and Nvidia to iron out optimizations in Dx12 , they had yrs to get dx11 to point it is now.

That's because you're looking at 1080p results when you switch to DX11 tab. You have to select 2560x1440 in both DX12 and DX11 tabs.

Here, a screenshot with all resolutions for 980Ti:

so dx12 only benefits on 1080p because you more cpu bound than 1440p. I guess dx12 isn't looking good for Nvidia. Overall will have to see for myself and I guess for people running into cpu bound scenarios for example a i5 with a 980ti might actually see a performance increase. I hate to say but I regret buying my 980 ti now because AMD get better DX12 support while also not to far from 980ti and costing less where I stay. Would love to see some more testing but will wait for Hilbert to give us proper results

Ooops sorry, I see what you mean. My bad, I did not realise that the resolution reset back to 1080p when switching between the DX11 and DX12 tabs on the benchmark slides.

Still, the fact that there is no improvement between DX11 and DX12 at 1440p is still a bit underwhelming after all the hype surrounding DX12. I beginning to think that it is going to be more beneficial to AMD card owners because their DX11 drivers are generally considered to be less well optimized than NVIDIA's.

I agree AMD DX11 driver really needs work hence the improvements in DX12 are huge. NVidia are pretty much using DX12 as there DX11 drivers are so good hence the minimal performance increase. DX12 for me is all about multi GPU scaling and better CPU usage.

What is a real shame is if AMD had worked more on there DX11 driver they would have really been competing with NVidia and winning.
I read (cant remember where) buy AMD if you want to game in the future buy NVidia if you want to play now which is sort of true AMD GPU's seem to catch NVidia and overtake and it is all down to the time it takes AMD to sort there drivers.

DX12 should be really good for AMD as they have to do less current cards including AMD's current GCN are really DX11 the next GPU's are real first DX12 cards as there will be DX12 games

While I do prefer Nvidia, I don't think it's true. Buy either to game right now. A few fps in dx12 doesn't mean jack. DX12 despite all the hype is totally insignificant right now. Buy Nvidia and AMD to game TODAY. Go play! (tm)

Looks good from where I'm sitting. Same performance in DX12 as in DX11 with the same graphical fidelity, may have some boost from concurrent async in the future. Doesn't need DX12 to make proper use of CPUs. Have 12_1 features allowing to create new graphics effects which will not work on AMD's cards. Your 980Ti is still the fastest card on the market in all APIs on average so I don't see what you're regretting. And no, AMD do not have "better DX12 support".

This fact should've been known to you from the start. If a game is GPU bound there is nothing in DX12 which will make it run faster unless the GPU is supporting concurrent async which will give it up to 10% speed up as we're seeing with AMD's cards now. And yes it is going to be more beneficial to AMD because of how bad their DX11 driver is, this was clear for some time now.

right , once your at 100% usage, thats it, but we still have low dx12 features that Nvivia does support (12_1) in games yet, so should still see either improvements in image quality and maybe some performance compared to Dx11.
AMD and media were ones hyping Dx12 because they knew there Dx11 was low utilizing ,hense big push for AC .
Also this has nothing to do with frame times, smoother running game is more important that few fps increase .
here some frame times so far . http://www.pcper.com/reviews/Graphics-Cards/PresentMon-Frame-Time-Performance-Data-DX12-UWP-Games

Well I'm seeing a performance increase in RotTR in DX12, so I guess NVidia's DX12 performance isn't borked afterall :D

At my monitor's native resolution at 1440p, I'm getting much better frame latency. But since I'm effectively GPU bound, my FPS has only increased by 2 or 3 frames per second.

But if I lower my resolution to 1080p, I was able to get a 12 FPS increase in Geothermal Valley with DX12 compared to DX11.

And this game supports Asynchronous Compute.

Also have GoW that run better too. Like many have said before there's nothing wrong with Nvidia and DX12 ;)

Yeah, NVidia's DX12 performance is fine. They just need a driver that unlocks asynchronous compute for that extra 10-15% performance..
