A minor update has been released fixing VXGI so it now works.
    (Was missing a .dll file.)

Steam FPS counter works for me on AMD rigs. Nvidia FPS counter works on nvidia rigs for me.

I have a monitor that runs AID64 sensor panel so I can watch what the system does during DX12. Noticed cpu usage was lower and more uniform across the cores then DX11.

Awesome... Thanks.. I was wondering about that.

For those not sure, do a reboot on steam for the VXGI update to kick in. I believe is 69mb.

I don't own the game, if someone could do a VXGI vs HBAO test that would be cool to see.

    My Benchmark

Spec: Intel i7-6700HQ 2.60Ghz, 16GB RAM, Nvidia Geforce GTX 970M 6GB, Games in FullHD with Maximum Setting & SMAA Anti-Aliasing.

DirectX 12 with HBAO+ - Some issue on startup loading, as you can see the minimum fps is pathetic.

DirectX 11 with HBAO+ - the higher games score so far.

DirectX 11 with VXAO - It look much darker but with better correct shadow & nicer overall. Comparison in below.

Averages about the same so all in all a +/- 0.

Although the notorious Geothermal Valley has noticeably higher min and max fps with DX12 which is nice!

The DX12 performance will improve for both AMD and NV I think, plus this being a post-launch patch means the full benefit of DX12 doesn't necessarily show like you said.

Lol, i wonder how many times can M$ sell us this direct x sh!t:
How can you even say that DX12 can bring big improvements on some systems. How the f*ck is that even possible when a furyx drops like a mother****er when running this game in dx12.
Game benched at 1080p, FXAA, HABO+, everything ULTRA.

^ seems AMD has issues with DX12 in Geothermal Valley.

That's probably a driver glitch which will get fixed, no way those numbers are right.

Even so, the other zones drop in fps, it's not even the same, it drops, a lot.
Man we need to migrate to linux, this sh!t is getting ridiculous.

The DX12 build clearly isn't finished yet, have gotten two CTDs already and only really benchmarked the game.

Should VXGI appear as a new option or is it used if HBAO is not selected?

We already have example of how well DX12 can work, so i don't see how it's MS's fault that either a dev cannot use the api properly or that Nvidia and AMD have driver issues.
    We al

A Linux Vulkan version would be so much worse that this.

Just the opposite for me at 1440p. Across the board the average framerate is slower by a couple fps in DX12, but the minimums are way higher across the board, so much smoother.

I thought there was no multi-gpu support in the DX12 version as of yet.

It's likely it's much smoother as CF has been disabled.

yeah I know, I ran it with 1,2, and 3 cards in dx11, and with dx12. It only uses one card in dx 12, and it is still much smoother than dx11 with one card.

Also I get 3 frames higher average framerate by disabling exclusive full screen mode in DX12.

1440p everything maxed out but AA (using fxaa just for bench) and textures (which are on high instead of highest) I get 27 min fps in geothermal valley, in dx11 the min is like 10 fps.

total benchmark average is 40 fps in dx12 and 43fps in dx11.

Interestingly enough, the minimums are just as low in dx11 whether i use 1,2,or 3 cards.

When running the benchmark, in DX11 or DX12 I notice even my cpu load is very very high in beggining of benchmark and each scene change.
Its something to do with that I think on low min and fps drops.

    Damn, that's a huge difference.

Is the difference something repeatable and visible, or an anomaly?

Another little hotfix was released, just adds a pipe_cache.bin file so possibly some form of initial shader cache, maybe helps with loading times or initial startup performance?
