This would be a very nice way of updating my old backup Phenom II based PC, sitting in a cupboard, which currently has an old Radeon 4850 in it. Knowing that if I my main PC goes down I would at least have a PC with a semi decent GPU in it is very tempting.
Maybe he is. Why do you care what he spends his money on? OT I think everyone may be missing the boat on this card. It's great and all the power requirement but seriously can they just make a low profile 950. Some people would like HDMI2.0a in their HTPC.
So this will be the fastest graphics card without the need for auxiliary power? I cannot think of another that would be faster?
PCI-Express delivers 75 watts through the slot itself. GTX 950 ref. has a TDP of 90. They will have at least to underclock it slightly.

Wasn't one of the 750 series cards that didn't have a power connector as well? Its just as well that that this version of the 950 would perform below the standard 950 since its a low powered version of the card which means not as OC capable as the 6 pin powered version.
