    This driver is decent. Installed in all of my systems with the ff gpu: 970, 760, 560Ti and 540M. Working good and performs the same as previous whql so far and didn't have the usb eject thingy icon. Having a fermi, kepler and maxwell cards, I don't think this usb eject icon is gpu architecture specific. Maybe gpu+motherboard combination specific.

    From TweakGuides,
    Note: These drivers may add a new GPU-related 'Safely Remove Hardware and Eject Media' USB icon to the Notification Area. Nvidia has stated that: "This is part of the new beta support for external GPUs however this message will be removed from the next driver." It is harmless if left alone, but can be hidden under Settings>System>Notifications & actions>Select which icons appear on the taskbar. Furthermore, the drivers also add the Nvidia Backend and Nvidia Settings programs to your startup, even if you don't install GeForce Experience; both can be safely disabled as covered on this page of the Nvidia GeForce Tweak Guide, which I've now revised and clarified.

    That isn't in my version of the release notes. It says nothing about it except:
    'Added BETA support on GeForce GTX for external graphics over Thunderbolt 3. supported GPUs.... it says nothing about the eject button.

    WHQL = Beta

    NV didn't hire beta tester. we're the consumers to test driver for them.

    beta stuff shouldn't implement on WHQL driver.

    Maybe Nvidia are bringing PCIe Hot Swapping like Sata III has on some mobo's. That would be ideal for a reviewer like HH who has to test many cards one after another.

    its for laptops that can use the thunderbolt connection for the new external gpu cases

    I think the eject button will disconnect the card and switch to the laptops internal gpu.

    Everything good with these drivers so far. Benchmark scores are in the normal range. BF, TW2&3, Blade&Soul, and Fallout 4 running fine. No random issues or hiccups.

    Only installed drivers, physx, and update.

    Had some time to take the drivers for a whirl. Witcher3 and R6 Siege are playing well.
    Great driver so far :D

    I don't have it either, GTX 780 as well.
    I guess only Maxwell plus some select Kepler cards are affected.

    Either way, it's not like this would have been a big deal to me.

    Meaning you're aware Nvidia has had significant BETA apps/software in WHQL drivers for a long time.

    Fermi chips are likely to be moved to legacy support with the release of Pascal GPUs.
