Display Driver Uninstaller Thread

So, a couple days later, right after I'm starting to relax, to think it's finally fixed... my fethin' computer goes blackscreen mid-game again.
To recap:
- Upgraded from 650Ti Boost to R9 380
- Used DDU from safe mode to remove the nvidia drivers (used clean and shutdown)
- Installed R9 380. Computer blackscreening during gameplay galore.
- Tried myriad of fixes, until finally trying card on different comp (which also previously had a nvidia card in it), got same issue on different comp
- Got a replacement R9 380, issue persists
- Got pointed to a drivers issue on Tom's Hardware, then posted here as well.
- Re-ran DDU, cleaned both Nvidia and AMD driver, reinstalled AMD driver. Issue gone... for a couple days.

Honestly I no longer know what to do. At this point I'll take pretty much any solution that isn't a clean reinstall of Windows (because doing that for easily the 20th time on this same computer is the last thing I wanna do).

Have you tried bios updating your motherboard, even if it doesn't say anything about VGA issues? Also, do the games black screen when you play with a controller, or kb/mouse?

Just kidding, I will elaborate:
As I really should've clarified, at least 80% of my gameplay lately was Fallout 4, which I had modded very slightly (5 if that many mods).
The only pattern the blackscreens had was they were possible to replicate if I loaded a game and repeated the steps taken before the blackscreen. I didn't however, get any blackscreens outside Fallout 4 or using another gpu (never had a blackscreen with the 650Ti using the exact same setup).
After the black screen earlier today (or yesterday, depending on your time zone), I decided to test whether the black screens were system-wide or restricted to fallout, so I ran 2 hours of benchmarking with a different game, which went without issues.
Then, I ran some testing on a clean, vanilla install of Fallout 4. No black screens.
So, my conclusion is I was unlucky enough to have installed a mod that every now and then, broke things, specifically with the R9 380. I still have to test in order to narrow down which of the 4 or so mods it is, but I'm tired right now.

TL;DR: I think it was the combination of a Fallout 4 mod and the R9 380 specifically. The issue was not present with a different gpu or vanilla Fallout 4.
Maybe it was a combination of mods, even. I'll have to do more test runs.

No problem man. Could you give us the list of mods? Others might encounter the same and be at a complete loss.

 

Why install a service call paexec.exe ? i dont like the idea of running always that service , after use this program .

Paexec is a necessary service for DDU to run with the "NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM" Privilege.
The reason is DDU have more power for cleaning up stuff with this user. System usually have full power on almost everything. While with administrator, I would have to modify registry / files permission sometimes and I prefer to avoid that.
The service is removed and deleted after.

Just a question, why did you change this settings before?
Or what app did it as its not the default settings. Normally we don't have to change this

 

i really dont know, the only problem i had was with assetto corsa, disable the uac able me to play the game, maybe i need to format

 

Hey guys, I need some help because I don't have a recent card (no one donated one yet :wanker: )

I need info for :
amdacpusrsvc.exe is it only launched as a normal app? is it a service ?
if its a service, what's is name? EDIT: I have my answer for this one.

I know its location : C:\Program Files\AMD\{920DEC42-4CA5-4d1d-9487-67BE645CDDFC}

also, is there other things(executable, services) in this folder?

If you guys can feed me some info, ill support the removal of this.

For those wondering, its related to the AMD ACP (TrueAudio)

i used it twice and i had each time a "system restore error ID 8193" it's my pc or it's a DDU problem? i have windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit

 

Try to manually create a system restore point and tell me if there work. If it doesn't, it's your computer

 

i'll try it but yeah, can be my pc cause when i used DDU the last time i had only 30gb on the OS hard disk so, probably there was not enough space for the system restore point. I'll let you know
