    Yey,

so today I got 3 crashes. Here are the steps:

    1. have Media Player Classic Homecinema decode h264 via DXVA
    2. start latest MSI Afterburner
    3. screens freeze, audio loops, then glitches, then disappears, computer dead, no dumps, nothing

P.S. I'm certain it's not Crimson drivers, it's just AMD on Windows 10. Never happened to me on 7 or 8.1, it's not the first day I had this on Windows 10.

    i doubt that. Isn't the 380 basically the same as 280 (7950)?
I run the 7950 with my old Cougar 400 Watt PSU and a 2500k on my Girlfriends PC

he changed his spec in the meantime. It was i7 and 425W PSU (that is ~20 amps on 12V, the only one that matters) which is barley enough to safely feed ~200W draw from GPU alone...280X can draw 250W on load easily (overclocked), that's just the card. Sure, 20 amps is enough but you don't want to run your PSU at almost 100% load now do you? :)

It doesn't matter anyway, his PSU is apparently 525W...though I know not of such PSU in existence. I know of Enermax 525W but not Corsair.

PS. I am hitting ~380W at wall socket at times. Considering most of it is converted to 12V, it's not a joke. I'd feel more comfortable with 600W PSU but I am planing to get components that draw less power, not more so I tolerate this, otherwise I would be using PSU that wouldn't run over 50% of it's maximum 12V output.

My system drains 160-200 watts from the wall, even in Witcher 3. 2600k, Radeon 290.

get a better reader, more sensitive one, and record your peak draw. It's all about the peaks. My computer draws 50W when typing this (including monitor) but that doesn't mean anything.

    PS> Run furmark, not witcher.

My crimson beta hotfix driver either just updated to something newer or re-installed itself overnight. I know this because I just had to repatch the driver with the pixel patcher (it reverted back to 60hz with no 120hz option). So something changed.

Do you have Windows set to update any hardware automatically? Win10 maybe? I would assume you have that stuff turned off with a rig like yours, just curious though. Sounds like you are saying the AMD updater went and got some files.

When I turned on my pc this morning, ~3 hours ago (having turned it off at ~2000 GMT last night), as soon as I reached desktop I was told that Raptr was being updated.

Never thought to check if a covert driver install was happening!

Crimson now reports driver package as...

[82438] The label range values in some AMD Freesync™ installations may be incorrect
[82536] The Radeon Settings dropbox does not close when it is clicked on a second time
[82603] The AMD Overdrive™ fan settings is always set to ON after first edit on reboot
[82586] Language shows up as Chinese Simplified when Chinese Traditional is selected in Windows® 7
[82656] Radeon Settings crashes on the Display tab when cloning a display via HDMI on some notebooks
[82671] Overdrive™ fan speed is reset to Manual on exiting from a 3D game or application
[82766] Radeon Settings does not get upgraded in some install scenarios
[82691] AMD Overdrive™ cannot revert to default settings in some situations

As those were fixed in 15.11.1 there's only two fixes in this update? Guess we'll know when it goes back online.

EDIT: The growing list of discovered issues in Crimson isn't a good start for this driver set either, hopefully we'll see quicker beta / hotfix driver releases starting next year so they can get those solved quickly but who knows.

I have stated this in the Reddit Thread already, but I want to give you an update on what I am 99% sure about as well:

Direct copy from the Reddit-post I made:
    I should perhaps mention:
Have you noticed, that the 15.12 article was cached on the 12/12/2015?

"This release provides users with a Microsoft WHQL certified version of the AMD Radeon Software Crimson Edition 15.11.1 Update driver."

Stated so in the info by AMD themselves. It's the same as the hotfix driver.
