You can update using the ISO. Mount it within Windows and go through the process. It should have "keep files, etc" checked. Run the setup as admin.

A noobish question I'm sure, but how exactly do you mount an image with Windows?

    Double click it

To unmount, goto the This PC window with the drives, and right click > eject like a DVD

You can mount ISO files within file explorer since Windows 8.

Using the update iso, it keeps asking me for a windows 10 key. I did the upgrade from 8.1 pro to 10 pro. I have tried using the 8.1 Key, ive tried running a scrip to return my product key (entered that and still no luck). Please tell me how you all are getting around the input key? Or please advise where I can get my key from? Any help is greatly appreciated.

I have tried that with no luck. I also read somewhere that mounting is not the way to go. The article said that the first time the machine reboots, the mount is gone and it won't work.

I looked at my drive with disk management and for some reason, there were two 450mb system partitions before the windows partition. I know that shouldn't be. I deleted the first one and then moved the boot and system partitions to the front. Then it said my disk had minor errors so I ran chkdsk and it found and fixed some things. Now everything looks normal and is running good. I'm going to try the media tool again and hope that now it will work. There is also a recovery partition after the Windows one but it's empty.

Just tried to activate a clean install of TH2 on my tablet, with genuine 7, and 8 and 8.1 keys, and none of them worked, kept telling me it was Win 10 Pro I was trying to activate.... yea no sh1t, the keys were 7 Ultimate, and 8 / 8.1 Pro keys

Thought they were supposed to work MS, they did on my laptop

Make things complicated / not work as they should, expect people to hacktivate

Updated 2 desktop PC,s and 2 Laptops installed everything work

Only problem was it installed a Broadcom Bluetooth usb 3 driver for my Logitech keyboard which stops it working so I had to revert it back to a USB 2 driver then it all worked again.

Well, I tried the Media Creation Tool again and the same thing. It failed.

    Hello guys,
Using media creation tool 64bit, I downloaded the ISO for Win10 Pro 64bit (was an iso of 3.25GB) and when I extracted the files and right click on the main setup file it shows "Version 10240" when right click, properties, details. Is that still the new ISO 10586?

Mounting works fine for upgrades, it copies the files to temp before rebooting

Got it via WU now... and all the previously uninstalled apps are back too. If we get a major version like this every few months, this going to become mighty annoying.

That's handy, never knew that as I upgraded from Win 7, thanks.

Finally can get rid of Alcohol 120% then, have had it lying around since early XP days.

Not like this, the next threshold update is due mid 2016 atm, more likely meaning late 2016 as this too was delayed.

That should also be the final major upgrade to Win 10 I think.

I don't think so... As far as I know there will only be Windows 10 now that will receive more or less constant upgrades.

I meant the last major as in the last threshold style upgrade. Meaning TH3 should be the final threshold and all the bells and whistles of Win 10 should be there after that.

Could be wrong ofc, but I read that somewhere and I think it was Microsofts rep telling that.

I read on another forum that the next major update won't be TH3, but something else that I forget, XX1 (XX being two new letters)

Yea the name was said in the source article too, but I forgot. Just called it TH3 as in the next threshold.
