I had the same thing, drops to 50s sometimes even lower, i disabled screen space reflections and it runs much better now.

GPU Usage spikes from 50>70>90 and back and forth.

    Will try that thanks.

Ended up getting the game and dont regret it. Yeah the engine doesnt seem very well optimised. Animations slow down a bit and there is the slighest slow down when panning the camera sometimes...

And really character models do look circa 2008...

Trying to find stuff for the base atm....gonna have to explore around a bit.

Yeah super good, getting it to level 2 finally I get a silencer.

All the crafting ones are good to get up to 2 I think.

TBH its been like that since morrowind, its the game engine, and use that command to unlock the fps. it also screws up the physics.

If you think this game runs well and has nice optimization because the performance is ok in the start, wait until you get to Lexington, specially Corvega Plant. Now that's the place people should use to make benchmarks :wanker:

As I tend to use a controller too I know what you mean, frame pacing is certainly off but someone posted a command over in the gaf thread which works a treat. Cleared up all the judder for me and is now perfectly smooth, just enter "iFPSClamp=60" (if using 60hz for example) in the fallout4.ini under [General] found in your documents. Make sure you're running the game in fullscreen and force v-sync via inspector or nvidia control panel.

Just about to buy the game, but why are so many users giving it such a low score @ metacritic?

Is anyone here not satisfied with it so far?

You are seeing here a couple things:

    1) Typical raging gamers giving the game a 0 or 1 out of 10, either because the game is crashing or having issues, in many cases probably from their own fault

    2) Gamers who can't understand why the game looks so poor, so they overlook anything else and give it a low score

Normally I wouldn't consider metacritic as a reliable source of review on a game, however in this case, I think Bethesda deserves a good deal of flak for releasing a game that has such a high hardware cost for what appears to be sub-par performance.

If the game looked much better, that is understandable.. but based on how this game looks, people with higher end hardware should have this game pinned at 80-100fps.

Also, as shown above, the fact that changing graphics options between medium/high/ultra shows zero change.. I mean, in 2015 for a game to malfunction this badly.. that's pretty appalling.

im happy with it so far. graphics are OK, the overall aesthetic is nice but textures are drab especially up close, nights are too light and bright day scenes get a bit washed out. the modding/crafting/settling aspects add some depth and a lot of potential for customization and free-play. combat and movement are improved over earlier FO games and arent nearly as clunky. im only 6hrs in a the story seems good with good enough voice acting, not the best but far from bad and no busted quests (yet..i know there will be a few).

id give it an 8/10 so far. runs good on my system all on ultra except godrays which are low. generally at or close to 60FPS at 1920x1080, until i got to lexington like mentioned above.

really hoping for a centered 3rd person camera mod...

So it's business as usual then, another shoddy, broken release for PC gamers - I can't say as I'm that surprised.
