Well of course, but I suspect the OP has no intentions of doing so. Also, single GPU is usually preferable over dual GPU's, so running say, two GTX 970's in SLI is less than optimal.
I think op said he will be waiting for Pascal anyway, no multi GPU's. 390/390X will definitely hold him until then.
Pascal/Arctic Islands. Whichever comes first and offers good performance for the money. Edit: I've been looking into Newegg, it seems that the low prices aren't showing VAT etc until the checkout phase. So you end up paying a similar amount as you would elsewhere. Also, is it just me or have GPU prices actually went up? I seem to remember 390's and 970's being cheaper than this a couple of weeks ago.
Yeah I mentioned that yesterday, you have to add the item in your cart to see the vat and shipping costs.
When the hype from the big shiny cards has died down budget cards like the 390/970 become popular again and the price rises a little.
Seems like it, typical that my GPU would start acting up now. The 380 is a side grade to what I have, not really worth the money. Cheers for the suggestion though. I'll keep looking around, I'm not in a massive rush to be honest.
970, overclock it. Best bang for buck at around £250. Just realised that the 970 still costs exactly what it cost on it's release date almost a year ago. I'd go either 970 or 390. Both costing about the same, 970 being the faster once you overclock. 390 has 8gb vram. Yeah, moot point.
These decisions are always so hard, even though i prefer NVIDIA, that R9 390 isn't too shabby either.
