    Hey guys,

As I said in the title, my GPU is taking a crap. I'm 90% sure it's on its last legs, and while I could probably go about fixing it I don't feel it's entirely worth it at this point. It's been a lovely old beast, but what can you do?

I'm a bit on the skint side at the moment due to family commitments and a couple of other problems, so my max budget is £250. I'm leaning toward a 970 in this range, although any other suggestions which perform on par or better in the price range are welcome.

    Thanks in advance!

    PS: I'm in the UK.

You have a store or stores you will be shopping from, I don`t want to suggest something out of budget due to not knowing prices outside the USA.

OCUK, Ebuyer, Amazon UK, Computer Orbit UK.

Nothing specific really, I can wait a few days to get the card.

I had a 970 in my main rig before upgrading to 980ti and it was awesome at everything 1080p it is now in my office PC 1280x1024 runs excel really well:bang:

the 970 is a nice GPU I have the EVGA GTX970 SCC it stays nice and cool fans are fine below 60% but above you can hear them.

OCUK seems to be down at the moment.

Wait a minute, £225 for an MSI 970 Gaming from Newegg UK?

I dont think R9 390/390X is an option with his PSU. 970 on the other hand seems like a good choice.

Don't worry about my PSU, I've more than what's listed in my specs. Thanks for the consideration though.

    Bump:

I'm hard pressed to see a 390 as better than a 970 at this point for cost.

    Convince or offer suggestion!

I asked cus if you got the 970 you can add another at a later date if needed. That would work.

True enough, but by the point I'd be in need of an upgrade Pascal should be out tbh. Most of the games I play aren't super demanding at the moment.

Pretty much everything I linked would do the job, custom 970 would likely get to 1500ish on the boost. If your going to be overclocking I would get the 970.

I'll be Oc'ing, seems a custom 970 will do the trick.

I find 390 better option. Staying with AMD would not a be bad thing. You know your 7950 was a good performer and overclocker, still fast.

Think about this, i honestly think 390 will last you longer.
