New AMD drivers from Windows 10 WU.

Never seen something like that before. I haven't blocked any updates yet either since I haven't had problems but this new system is kind of weird.

Well if you re-download the 15.7.1 drivers from amd webnsite the version is

15.20.1062.1004-150803a1-187674c so it's the driver you mentioned is older than the current ones.

 

I still don't have this popping up..

 

Why are we complicating things for no reason? There is no "newer" driver in Windows Update. You can get that driver right now by downloading through AMD.com. The only "leaked" driver is 1065 and it has buggy 2D and slower 3D performance. For everything else, the latest driver you can get from AMD.com is the fastest one.

 

i don't have any driver in windows update, even if i force searching for updates. You probably don't have the latest driver from AMD site 15.7.1. Also i really doubt it AMD will release new drivers to Microsoft before releasing on their site.

 

This has happened before, especially before July 29nth. Now it makes sense that the latest driver will always be on the AMD website.

 

Yeah actually it was windows 10 pre release drivers for testing that was modded to work with windwos 7-8.1

 

Windows "insisted" on downloading these "newer" drivers (10x64), so I said yes...

1062.1004 (15.7.1 is .1002).

Works great, but there is the occasional artifact @TW3 (but with about +20-23% fps!!!).

Everything else works as it worked (VSR etc).

 

+20% performance in the witcher 3? I don't know, too good to be true.

 

Currently, 15.7.1 is .1004. They've been updating them.

I've repeatedly checked my settings, they are exactly the same as before (.1002).

Suddenly, from 28-37(@1440) I'm seeing 32-47 (with the occasional dip).

 

Woot. What settings? Do you have a profile for the game in CCC?

 

There was a mini patch to W3 recently so maybe that gave him that boost, but i doubt it's 20% .

 

Only the "tess" setting@16X.

In game:

1440, no limit@frames-vsync=on, no AA (using the SweetFX one), Hair/Blur/M.Blur/Bloom=off, sharpening=low, A.O=SSAO, DoF=on, Chrom.Ab/Vignetting=off, L.Shafts=on, Number of Char/Terrain/Texture/Detail=Ultra, Everything else=high.

The point is that these were the exact same setting I had with the .1002s.

 

I normally do not call people out for being wrong...when you go to download the drivers from AMD at http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/desktop?os=Windows+10+-+64

You get AMD Catalyst™ Display Driver version 15.20.1062.1002 which is different then what some of us have recently gotten through the New Win 10 Update.

We got Driver Packaging Version 15.20.1062.1004-150803a-184226E


SO IT IS NOT THE SAME, but the 1002 are an EARLIER driver all you have to do is compare compile dates. I am not gonna be mean about it but we are already seeing a performance boost in the 1004 release, not just here but reported on other other sites as well. So no it is not the same driver we got through win 10 update on the AMD website.

 

Not quite right.

Seems AMD update what you download from the driver page even though they don't mention it anywhere or annotate changes. It might have been 1002 when it first came out on AMD's 15.7.1 driver download. My first download from the AMD website for 15.7.1 was in fact 1003 (downloaded on 9th August).

Just downloaded from AMD's 15.7.1 page again and obviously got something different (going by download size). Just installed it. So, latest download from the AMD driver site for 15.7.1 is 1004 (even though it still says 1002 in the notes).

edit: Just to add, I wasn't getting a WU either running the 1003 version of 15.7.1. Went and downloaded the 15.7.1 from AMD anyways (out of curiosity) to find they are now 1004 version. Driver package is 15.20.1062.1004-150803a1-187674C
