I cant upgrade my laptop, gives me a boot error and returns me to win 7. I have a horrible feeling this is going to be a nightmare as I cant activate win10 from a clean install... plus the laptop is so damn slow this is taking eons...
I haven't gotten any upgrade notice or background download yet but the "Get Windows 10" icon has disappeared from my system tray/notifications area. I guess because I already reserved my copy a while ago.

So I'm having an issue after installing win10. My GPU will not throttle down just sitting at desktop. I remember having this issue after installing win8.1 and I fixed it by disabling the store service. That isnt working here. Any ideas? I'm using 353.62 drivers and latest Afterburner.
Make sure nothing in 3D Settings > Program settings in NVCP, that is currently open, is set to "Maximum Performance" Same with global settings, switch power management mode to Adaptive
Tried that, setting to adaptive does not let it throttle down. I had it set to max performance under win 8.1 all the time with no problems.

I've just finished upgrading to Windows 10 Home on my laptop and i've noticed that the Store icon on the taskbar is different to the icon on my desktop which is running Windows 10 Pro (was originally the insider builds). I'm just wondering what the reasoning was as the home build also has some other slight differences such as the activation tab in the updates settings menu having a Store link and Candy Crush, twitter and Shazam shortcuts in the start menu.
I have win7 on SSD , win 10 pro on a slow HDD (upgraded from win8.1). I want to clean install win10 on a better HDD partition with usb stick. How i will activate win10 on a new HDD? I am not using microsoft/live account.
If you upgraded 10 originally from a genuine 8.1, and it activated 10 online, you can install it to any HDD on the same machine without any product key and it will activate fine once it's online (Servers are taking a hammering atm, so it might take a while to activate)
@Extraordinary Thanks for the earlier suggestion by the way. I asked you if maybe Burning Windows Pro N is why I couldn't activate my Windows and you told me to burn a fresh copy of Window Pro (without N). That worked, as soon as I finished clean installing with that, Windows 10 was already activated. Now if I can only figure out how to install the Logitech software for my keyboard G510s to get that working! The keyboard is working, it's just the screen is not functioning and I can't change the keyboard colours without that software.
Hmm now It downloaded windows ws and bt folder, installer was in ws folder but it always failed by 40%, atm testing dvd iso and it passed, already reboot 3times.. atm 32% instaling features and drivers. Btw they canceled windows media center..
Yeah that didn't work, but never mind, I went to the Logitech site again and they've just posted the drivers! That was fast, I'm actually impressed. Hope creative do the same for my SoundBlaster Z soon (it says expected to be released in August though).
A few people have had the WU method fail, weird I use KODI (XBMC), best media centre out there IMO Yea that was quick, good job Logitech August is only 2-3 days away
