1) What is the point in comparing with less powerful cards, on a 7* temp difference? 2) My max temperature was reached in a game that doesn't even support SLI, thus the first card bore the entire brunt yet still got heated up by the card below. 3) I have an H440, which has a poor airflow in general.
If that was not in sli then u should rma that one thats way to hot for aftermarket cooling, but heh thats just my opinion. i know that the msi runs hotter then the gigabyte but thats just insane, thats stock nvidia design cooling temperature what u got there.
Doesn't matter, non reference coolers blow the hot air inside the case, with SLI off the second card will still get hot. If I do SLI/Crossfire I normally stick with reference blowers or at worst single slot cards that have enough spacing between the cards to cool effectively( obviously I mean air cooled only ) and what I say is a general statement only, im sure loads are running SLI 980Tis in SLI without issue
Nvidia recommends a 600W PSU for a non OC'd system with a single non OC'd 980 Ti. Also have to take into account the age of the PSU. How old was your RM650?
Excuse me? I don't believe I asked why it happened. I replied to a guy who thought my comment about turning SLI off meant I had removed one card, thus wanting me to RMA the top one due to the numbers.
Just got me a basic Palit GTX 980 ti with stock cooler just to join this thread... I really could not afford it, now what? c1:
Just another Question- I'm using one power cable from the V850 PSU to the 8+6 pin connection on graphic card, is this enough or should I have two dedicated cables? [/IMG]
Use 2 dedicated. At least i do. But my Corsair HX1000w has 4 separate dedicated GPU connectors. Ow and why dont you use your bottom fan?
Just checking in advance, which screws would I need to remove to take off the entire cooler on the MSI 980 Ti? I see the four black ones around the GPU itself and the rest appears to be only for the backplate. Any hidden suckers?
Thanks all. My Cooler Master V860 is single rail... Very happy with this card.. more noise due to the stock cooler.. miss my Asus 970 Direct CU II Any tips for best overclock and aftemarket coolers? Oh the bottom fan is in use, was just stuck at the time..
My RM650 was 2months old, and i had no issue while running 90% of applications/game/benchmark But Battlefield 4 with my GPU, CPU both oc to max made my power go off (quite scary i've to say). The message was clear, and my HX1000i don't even feel the need to start its fan, and i now have the option to consider SLI.
I'm going to wait and see how my RM850 performs with an overclocked CPU and overclocked GPUs before I actually buy the RMi1000. More or less keeping it in mind just in case there's a power issue. Also doesn't hurt to have the power supply under less stress. Longevity and such. EDIT: Just noticed you're running a somewhat close spec to what I'll be running, how is your Supernova 850 handling it?
