The only OS that was "ready" when it RTM'd IMO, was 7

All the rest took a good while to become stable from memory

10 could have done with a bit longer in development, but no show-stoppers for me yet, just annoyances

I have no problems with drivers with my laptop. It even installs a later version of the ELAN touchpad driver. VIA sound driver, and Geforce on-board are all up to date.

I have the Windows 8.1 rst drivers installed already,
same as my sound card drivers and i am not having any issues with them.
BTW i am kind of confused which version of RST i should install.
    Any suggestions?

Asus website has still to add Windows 10 drivers for my board.
So i downloaded from a similar Gigabyte MB on their Website and have added Win 10 drivers except RST.

When has Creative ever bothered to have a driver ready at release? I can't think of single time where we didn't have to wait for them to pull their head out and get a driver released. It was the same with Vista/7/8/8.1 with sound card driver releases.

Not talking about Creative but Asus. My Asus soundcard doesn't have a driver for Windows 10.
I wouldn't buy a Creative soundcard because of past driver experiences :)

It's fine. Just saying that Creative usually sits on their hands until the last minute. I don't know about Asus, never had any of their sound cards.

From my past experience with the Asus Xonar DX. Don't expect a Windows 10 driver for at last a few weeks after launch. Same happened with with Win 8.1.

Precisely why I stick with my onboard Realtek audio. It's not a bad iteration here and I mostly use optical and pass-through to care about it.
They released a Windows 10 driver ages ago.

SB Z/ZX/ZXR driver for Windows 10. Installed and working fine here.

Station-drivers are a daily check for me. For intel chipset I'm using the 10.1.2.8. Found on Guru3d main page. For Sata, I did an install via device manager. I don't need RST unless I'm running RAID. Version I'm using is 14.5.0.1081. Again, working fine. And for MEI I'm using 11.0.0.1157 and working fine too.

I found a handy little batch file somewhere (can't remember) and it deletes none essential Intel services installed by MEI. I don't seem to have any issues so far. Here's the syntax, use at your own risk

    @ECHO OFF
    REM v1.2 r01/24/2013
    ECHO.
ECHO. Disable unnecessary Intel Management Services
ECHO. typically not needed on individual/home PCs
    ECHO.
    set choice=
ECHO Are you sure you want to run this?
    ECHO.
    set /p choice=Confirm .................... [y/n]
    if '%choice%'=='y' GOTO sure
    if '%choice%'=='n' GOTO done
    GOTO done

    :sure
    ECHO.
    ECHO. Stopping unnecessary services...
    ECHO.

ECHO. Intel(R) Capability Licensing Service Interface
sc stop "Intel(R) Capability Licensing Service Interface"

ECHO. Intel(R) Content Protection HECI Service
    sc stop cphs

ECHO. Intel(R) Dynamic Application Loader Host Interface Service
    sc stop jhi_service

ECHO. Intel(R) Management and Security Application Local Management Service
    sc stop LMS

ECHO. Intel(R) Management and Security Application User Notification Service
    sc stop UNS

    ECHO.
    ECHO. Disabling unnecessary services...
    ECHO.

sc config "Intel(R) Capability Licensing Service Interface" start= disabled
    sc config cphs start= disabled
    sc config jhi_service start= disabled
    sc config LMS start= disabled
    sc config UNS start= disabled

    :done
    ECHO.
    ECHO. Done!
    ECHO.
    PAUSE
    EXIT

I'm using that driver as well. We're not talking about leaks, but official released drivers, which Creative and other sound card manufacturers usually wait until the last minute to release.

True that. And with Creative, they always bump the "projected" release date further. Initially the said mid July if I'm not mistaken and now it's August. They did the same with Windows 8 as well did they not? I'm interested to see if the version they release "whenever" is the same as the leaked one or not.

I read somewhere in these forums someone forced installed Intel rst Version 14.5.0.1081 on 7 series chipset.
How can you do this when it's not supported and 6 series is?

I think they did the same with Windows 8, but I'm not sure. I just find it weird that sound card manufacturers take forever to support the new OSes when Nvidia and AMD usually have official support started from the first few betas.

I highly don't recommend installing 14.5.0.1081 version if you using a RAID, there been lots of issues with x99 and people with RAIDs getting data corruption with that driver version, I don't know if it applies to other platforms like x79/z97 and such

the latest stable intel RST for me was version 14.0.0.1095

here also a link to a modified version of the intel RST to support most chipsets

Probably so you buy the newer cards that ship with the latest OS support.

Probabably. I just picked up an SBZ, because I don't feel like waiting until October for proper X-Fi drivers. Even then I was able to find an SBZ for under $80 USD so it was totally worth it.

I went from an X-Fi Titanium to an SBZx, more because the X-Fi didn't have the best driver support for Win8 at the time and because I had money burning in my pocket. I like the SBZx for the most part. The one thing about it I don't like is when I'm playing music. On the defaults, the center channel is too loud on the SBZx, the X-fi balanced fine. I had to tweak the sound in the speaker setup to balance the center channel to the rest of my speakers. Whatever. I'm happy with it. I just played some BF4 and only had one second where I got a weird sound glitch and it glitched the sreen with it. But it was fine otherwise.
