I installed Windows 10 build 10147 today and so far, I have the same driver as I had in 10130...

The latest official Win10 driver (1023.5) exists in C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download as d9e19222b206b4dd6ed9813f790565c2638d0f75 (no extension; can be opened and extracted with 7-zip) with the hashes:

    MD5: 4A06D305DE6ABF73D99BCC5096F14466
    SHA1: D9E19222B206B4DD6ED9813F790565C2638D0F75
    Contents: http://pastebin.com/Hnm44ix4

Not sure if it's still needed, but it would take me about an hour or so to upload if needed (someone with a faster connection may want to do it instead :p).

I was running the asder 1040 driver in Win10 and was pretty happy with them.

But Win10 v10130 always eventually overrides my drivers and automatically re-installs the 15.200.1023.5 (15.20-150522a-184226E) drivers anyway from windows update.
I have yet to find anyone who knows how to Permanently prevent this from happening in Win 10 10130.

I don't think there's a way to stop Windows Update currently. I think in RTM there could be a way. I'd like to know too.

I've used a script to prevent Windows Update from overriding my drivers in the past successfully. More info at:
    https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/insider/forum/insider_wintp-insider_update/how-to-block-automatic-reinstall-of-a-driver-from/bff07224-4ce2-4b42-ab29-68c3a305d730

    Cheers!

I tried it several times, but each time I hid the AMD display driver update, windows update still updated that sucker within a minute.

So thinking to myself "there is no way windows update downloads and installs that driver that fast, it must still be keeping a copy somewhere even though i told it not when uninstalling it in device manager".

So on my last try, I uninstalled the driver through device manager and chose to delete the driver software for this device as i did earlier.
But then without rebooting, i ran DDU and allowed it to restart in safe mode to make sure the old drivers were gone.

Upon cleaning the drivers in safe mode with DDU, DDU gave me a notice that it made changes to prevent the drivers from being re-installed through windows update. (sorry I don't recall the exact wording)

I then checked with the script and sure enough the AMD display driver update was already hidden.

Sooo...long story short...the latest version of DDU hides the AMD Display driver in windows update for you
which prevents windows update from re-installing that driver.

Is there anyone that tested these drivers for overhead in both windows 8.1 and windows 10? I am curious to what extend Windows 10 and WDDM 2.0 improves things. I am thinking about installing Windows 10 already. If the difference is big enough, I will jump in the technical preview :D

The big difference is using Windows 10 drivers in general, Windows 10 + Windows 10 driver isn't much different if any. The overhead improvements didn't come from WDDM 2.0

Seems that they might have come from WDDM 1.3 though. I'm not 100% sure yet.

Once Windows 10 releases, I'll do as many benchmarks as I can with the latest "Windows 10" driver on Windows 8.1, and then repeat on Windows 10.
