Can you imagine how well Fury would have been received if it came out 6 months ago? Timing is everything in the GPU business.

You're expecting Microsoft's API to be their savior. When Mantle was developed It was a lot of work by DICE getting it to work. Just look at the state of their current driver release schedule it's pathetic.

All I'm saying is that AMD needs to pull their heads out of their collective asses. They can't depend on their faithful fanbois to keep them afloat. They aren't Apple.

DICE had to adapt their D3D engine to support Mantle. Good comparison.

Exactly same, because in some games it is beaten by gtx 970 regardless its rendering power...

I agree with this, and I think this is why we are seeing such a huge push in PR from AMD right now, Ive never seen them be this forceful with PR. We all know how good Pr works cough nvidia cough,

Mantle was an early release of the underlying base optimizations you will see in DX12. AMD tried to make it a closed ecosystem with Mantle. Nvidia instead adapted it to work in the DX11 environment. Look at Thief for proof of that.

I just love it when the diehard fanboys say things like this. The numbers tell me that the Fury X barely competes with the 980 Ti. Even then it only outperforms it in some cases by 1-2 frames. There is no destroying. For all the hype AMD built up around this card, it is very disappointing. The name suggests that it was supposed to compete with the Titan X and it can barely keep up with the Geforce GTX 980 Ti. Go ahead waste your money on a mediocre product that can't even do what it was originally designed to do.

Because we all know Intel plays fair when it comes to underlining algorithms that hinder performance.... This is why I will never use Intel, ever.

It is is annoying to watch these reviews on one system spec and not an array of different systems. Been my biggst gripe with g3d over the last decade.

We haven't seen a game yet that was written from the ground up with DX12 in mind.
NVIDIA does perform better than AMD in DX11 we know that :)

    Considering Win10 : Isn't the lowest DX12 version 11_0 ?
    So basically DX11, through DX12 drivers ?
So even DX11 stuff would be much better threaded ?

Intel have the more powerful CPU's. It's best to test with that so you aren't held back by the CPU when benchmarking GPU's (to get the most performance).

I think GoW re-re-release will be the first on DX12. I eagerly await seeing what it brings to the table.

No it's a different API. The feature level is for hardware support.

Good for you buddy! Keep using that quad dual core eight core CPU and keep calm!

    Yes, but isn't DX11 technically a subset of DX12 ?
    I mean there won't be DX11 drivers for Win10.
But DX11 games will be playable.

Or will they just have the last DX11 API included as a compatibilty layer ?

Of course there will be DX11 drivers for Windows 10 how do you expect to play DX11 games on it?

While his remark is quite irrelevant, your reply is total joke. Because his CPU has more compute power than yours, and at time you'll upgrade for DX12, he will not be held back by his.
I know that if he has it at least bit overclocked it is capable to spank mine too.

Why would Intel CPU's not benefit from DX12 exactly?

No wait, it'll include some D3D9 to D3D11 dll's quite probably, so no difference.

edit : I was just imagining that some stuff could be done in DX12 more efficiently. But that would need a game patch.

It would need to be ported over to DX12. Games may get some improvements from WDDM 2.0 though.
