Underwhelming does not even begin to describe this product. It does not even beat a reference 980Ti at 1440p. Hope with some driver improvements this card will get faster and the OC results are laughable at best. This is a sad day for PC gaming as Nvidia does not even have to try now. SMH This is why I get apprehensive when an AMD product is hyped.
Still impressed with what they've achieved, even if sub-4K perf isn't quite up to snuff. Hopefully this will bring the price of the 980 Ti down a bit
Love that cooler. But wow, I was expecting more then that... so sad. 980 Ti seems to be the way to go for high end still then. Also (though more expected) the 390X and below are lame, 8GB Vram so pointless.
where are you seeing £649? Scan has them for pre-order for as low as £519 http://www.scan.co.uk/search.aspx?q=fury
You are both correct! Overclockers obviously overcharging... again. My apologies! So, its a choice between a 980 Ti or a fury. Same price, similar performance. Still, underwhelming from the hype.
So this has no DVI that I need. And yes I can't use dapter. it needs to be active displayport to dual link DVI and then not sure i can do my 96Hz. That will add to price or get new monitor. A local pc shop is doing a special pre order on the 980ti HOF for amazing price. Cheaper than the reference 980ti to be exact cause they import themselfs so I think I can go that rather than this card
Cool piece in a nice package with great 4K performance and low temps but that's it. Slower performance than 980Ti in 1080/1440p, hardly any overclocking potential, loud pump/fan when idling, just 4GB VRAM, poor drivers and only costs a little bit less than the 980Ti.
The card was quoted as being very overclockable friendly. So the overclocking benchmarks should be worth reading.
Great review as always HH, but unfortunally AMD... I'm going GB 980Ti G1. Just ordered. Was only 40$ higher than Fury X. I will tho get a R9 Nano for my tiny LAN box i'm planing on building.
biggest weakness of the card imo is sub 4k performance. 4k gaming is still a niche market and for 1440p i honestly cant think of any reasons to get the fury instead of a 980ti. hope its a learning experience for amd from a tech perspective so they can take the fight to nvidia next round.
HardOCP review is worth the read too (different games). Conclusion has some good points. www.hardocp.com/article/2015/06/24/amd_radeon_r9_fury_x_video_card_review/1 IMO the idle noise is a massive let down and apparently the pump makes annoying noises.
