    @undeadpolice
    My theory is different, i think this XFX 390x bios from netkas, is not designed for reference cards. I guess he is from some custom PCB card. That's why VRM are hotter on this bios, cards are less stable and voltage readings are not accurate. 20c difference between VRM temps isn't normal. This is way too much. Also look at "VDDC power in" and "VDDC power out" readings.

    @PieEyedPiper
    Don't look at 12v readings at gpu -z, they are very not accurate. But yes, 12v drop to 11.38 only on 390x bios.

    In my opinion better stay with Hawaii bios until we get more info about new cards.

    If it was custom PCB you wouldn't even boot the PC and most likely brick the card without dual bios switch. Temps on VRM are higher probably because powerlimit is set higher by default or it's just ****ty bios from xfx.

    I wouldn't recommend anyone to use current 390x bios as daily driver. But i do encourage to test it and post their findings on forums. To improve the bios.

    but reframe from posting false infomation and photoshop screenshots. It only damage the progression for everyone else, just for bragging rights.

    I think its just a patched driver. You can find modded 15.15 here:
    forums.guru3d.com/showpost.php?p=5098084&postcount=26
    You can keep original r9 290 BIOS for use with the modded driver.

    Hello guys, just registered to give you my results.
    Flashed my reference Sapphire R9-290X 4GB with the modded bios shown in the Opening Post
    Here is my card now
    gpuz . techpowerup . com/15/06/22/6ys . png (space added because of this forum policy on new members)
    For now it is stable on Windows 10 Technical Preview with asder00's 15.200.1040 drivers
    I'd like to change the deviceID like in the first screens but I might need further research, I'll also try to make my own bios with 1050/1350 that are my stable timings

    I've run test again with default bios with simpler OC settings.
    I notice that my VRM has 4° cooler while core is slightly warmer, Can't really tell by how much, because the moment core temps reaches above 85° the fans will shoot 100% to bring the temps down back to 85° and below
    Despite the pumping more voltage to the core I still get errors during OCCT test and I got lower fps on 10 average.

    It seem that my 290x reference card is loving the new bios for some odd reason. Btw I notice with default bios the Vram displays Eipda and with 390x bios it displays hynix in GPUZ

    Will run more test with 390x bios again.

    So, I've edited XFX bios myself to test with 1050/1500 freqs, just changed 8gb to 4gb, and guess what? My elpida mem did even better with higher clocks! Now black flashing frames are gone and scored 4940 in Fire Strike extreme.(+400 graphics points comparing to pcs290x bios)

    Please post a link to download you bios, I'm interested in testing as well.
    Since there no new games to play ATM.

    i tried this bios xfx 390x with gigabyte 290x wind force oc elpida mem
    with 1050/1500 and both 3dmark 11 and firestrike crashed
    but with the lower core 1000/1500 both benchmarks finished
    i tried extra volt +13% and it crashed again with 1050/1500
    but my 3rd effort with 1050/1500 with only power limit +33% finished properly

    Please realize that not all 290/290x will do 1500 memory settings.

    Glad you worked through it.
