Best of luck on those buddy, ill be testing mine when in get in with a few benchmark runs before stripping it down and fitting my block. As excited as i am about this I'm really not looking forward to draining and refitting my loop.
Not if you have great through put of air in your case and a great case. I have SLI and my temps are amazing compared to reference card. It's not always the way see. Depends every time on what you have got.
I didn't really have to many issues with my 780ti's with the ACX cooler and the reference blowers run a bit too hot for my liking.
Reference were hotter for me too with 2 different lots of SLI (670's and 970). Got these and temps have been 20 deg better at least. Just goes to show the variables make the difference not the solid view that your personal situation MUST be how it is for everyone else so you must ward them off something. It's just not the case (pun not intended).
Hehehe yea - after the 3x 780's I got 3x 970's. I sold those to get 2x 980Ti's.... still considering getting a 3rd 980Ti inside, the case looks so empty with just two cards :nerd:
X58 is still a great platform and tbh, 980/990 CPUs still measure up fairly well (especially given their age) to X79/X99 where gaming is concerned.
Only had this card a couple of days.. Seeing artifacts (like pixellated squares) whilst scrolling Guru3d using Chrome upon a fresh boot. No overclocking software such as Afterburner/Precision X installed. Clean installed with DDU in safe mode (setup as new card) Had zero issues with previous card - 780ti using 350.12. Drivers or dodgy card? :bang:
I also have trouble with display driver stopped working. I Think there may be some kind of trouble with some 980 ti
Ok - ive had nothing but issues with the acx cooler... ive had to return both Cards due to defective fans... then a Little year later (2 months ago) fans on one of the Cards became defective Again... but this time i demanded that they simply sent me new fans, which they did to their defense. Other than that, the cosmos 2 case is apparently very bad for coolers of that type, so im forcing air in through the pci openings with a fan, which shaves 5c off the temp off of the top Card, so the difference between the bottom and top Card is "only" 7c. But under full load, the top Card gets nearly as hot as the reference Cards, and heats rest of system up a great deal, so i deffo wont get this type of cooler for sli Again. Which case do you use, and what fan setup?
I had a cosmos 2 case when I had my 7970's and it was fairly terrible for cooling those, im using an NZXT Phantom 630 now and it's a great case, I've got intake in the front and side fan, the rear fan as exhaust along with the 6 fans on my radiator in the top of the case as exhaust as well. Got a 120mm fan blowing across the cards from my hdd cage.
Doesn't have to be the card. The latest drivers have been causing these type of issues for tons of users, with different models of cards (970. 980) etc..
Would you guys recommend the gigabyte Gamers G1 version that was reviewed here since it seems to run cooler than most versions?
Cosmos 2 was plain out horrible at stock, so ive modded it slightly to allow much greater front intake. Spoiler I have thought about changing the case, but honestly, i think ill simply get gpu's with closed loops NeXT time... will save me all this trouble, and cpu temps are great, so gpu temps should be aswell if using closed loop aswell.
On my trusty X58 sabertooth: http://www.3dmark.com/fs/5057681 Score of 15300 and compare to the review on Guru3D http://www.guru3d.com/articles-pages/nvidia-geforce-gtx-980-ti-review,24.html of the 980Ti where a 5960X was used that attained 15656, I'm still happy with X58 - it's been a great platform and a move to a cheap Xeon 5670 off Ebay just extended its life...
