Yea it plays 4 x 4k no problem too (4k was the max size I could download from YT)

I just took at look at the news thread posted about 8K on Youtube and the user r92king says he's having stuttering in Windows 8.1/10 with a 4670K at 4.4GHz but runs fine on Linux. Maybe it's a Win 8 issue?
Dilemma: If it really is a per core performance issue that wouldn't necessarily mean you can run the 8K video. For example if all the stress for that 8K video is in 1 thread, running 4 4K videos would have a quarter of the stress each but they'd be their own separate threads.

But with other users now saying it's not working it's probably more than just a CPU issue.

Sounds like it might well be that, I can't see 8k being too much for most peoples machines here, if BR players can cope with 4k lol

True, yea, still, Im leaning more towards it being a Windows issues rather than hardware

Any way to download the full 8k from YT?

I wonder if any users who have a 5960x cpu and 4 way SLI Titan X's could watch 8K Videos?

I'd imagine so if people with way lower specs can watch it

Interesting to see the stats of Windows versions vs people who can and can't watch it, might make a poll to narrow it down

Yes but YouTube (for a while now) has separated the audio from the video for 1080p+ probably just to mess with people trying to download. It happened at the same time they started enforcing their policy of no downloads allowed and they banned the extensions for browsers. So you won't find them in the Chrome Store, you have to download them from shady 3rd parties.

The one I currently have installed is 'YouTube Video and Mp3 Downloader', one of the first Google results IIRC. You have to enable developer mode in the extensions setting and manually select the files to load. You can download anything on YouTube, if you want to save it for your own entertainment you'll have to get a program to combine its audio with it if you want 1080p+.

Cheers, I`ll have a look at that - youtube center allows downloading, but doesn't give very high quality, like 720p at best iirc

Not wrong, just unexplainable thus far as to why some can and some can't

I made a poll to try and find out, but so far it seems to be completely random

The video lagged a lot with a lot of sound skipping at my end.

That's interesting considering you have an older CPU.

Yeah kinda weird, it sometimes spiked to 60% though but then goes back to 34%.

I'll give it a shot on my Homemade Mac this evening, let's see what Safari can do... I'm tempted to try this on my Linux machine too......

4K no problem 8K is choppy using about 60% on both 670's and the CPU is around 50% on all cores with one tread peaking at 80%.
