This has nothing to do with exchange rates. The prices are determined by what the seller can get for them when factoring in how fast their selling and whether that volume can be moved fast enough to keep up with production.

    edit\

I stand corrected regarding the weak Euro not being a factor. I just checked the exchange rate and had no idea the euro had dropped so much. When I used to import automotive performance accessories (wheels, aero, exhaust, etc) from Germany in 2007-2009, the Euro was around $1.35-$1.48 IIRC>

I was refering to 980ti doing 200fps at $800 and Fury doing 190 at $600 sort of price performance. I know it'll be expensive but it it delivers at a lower price I'll have one.

If that is the price then that is just sad..
Supply and demand.. and I hope there wouldn't be a demand so more sane prices will be given.
Do the right thing and don't give them more reasons for these prices.
I wish there was at least another strong player as nvidia so prices would go down.
    COME ON ALREADY AMD!

AMD folks told us the new card would be Ultra Enthusiast months ago, so I expect it to launch somewhere in the $750-1000 range, and I don't expect 980 prices to drop at all once the 980Ti arrives, as the 390X will most likely still be playing catchup to the former.

Just imagine when they come out with the 980ti Platinum or w/e they call it will full Titan X cores for $899.99, the tears will pour!
They did this with the 780 and 780ti(Titan and Titan Black)

The 980ti is a direct replacement for the 780/780ti and is about 100% faster so should be in that same price point $649/$699 not $799-$849.

@ $699.99 im a buyer but any more and I will just pick up a 970 to tide me over.

this is insane, all prices, save for titan, should be 25% lower. GTX960 for 200$?! ROFL I'd deal with all AMD problems any day and have 30% faster card for that price.

Someone mentioned this in another place: What happened to flagship cards being priced at 500$?! (Titan aside, that's a product in it's own category). 970 sure is a nice card but 5 years ago, that sort of card would have been ~300$, 960 would have been 149, 960Ti (I know it does not exist) would have been close to 200$, and 980 would be 500$, until 980 Ti comes out.

Yup same here. I really could not care less about those crying about Titan prices.

    - "TITAN IS A JOKE" - Maybe, but who's laughing? The joke is on you LOL

-You want the best? GIMME 1000 euros. PAYME NOW!
It's too much for you? How about getting a better job, or learning to settle for something less than THE ABSOLUTE BEST.

OTOH I could argue similarly for GTX 960, but I won't
Because 960 should be a very decent mid-range (x60 moniker) available to everyone.
And it IS priced slightly less than before. But it's offering considerably less than it's predecessors.

TL;DR Nvidia has a gaping performance hole between 960 and 970, and it's practically forcing those in x60 market to stretch a bit, and go for 970 instead.

Titan is Titan, it's for people with too much money, idc about that, too each his own....but...

As for "too much for me" , well I have shoes that cost over 800$ and a dozen over 500$, so it's not that, I am not commenting on these prices for e-peen measurements, I am commenting on how things are cheaper to produce but are more expensive to buy then they used to be.
    Also r9 285 >>>> gtx 960 for less money.
    - II -r9 280x >>>>>>>>>>> gtx 960 for less money.

That's my problem right there! I like nVidia but I cannot make a sane choice of buying gtx 960 over 280X, I don't like them THAT MUCH! :D

PS. I had zero problems with buying GeForce DDR for 500$. Zero. It was the best and lasted for 2 years and even more. It was top of the line. None above it. Top notch tech, huge R&D etc etc. 970 for over 350$? Joke.

PPS. I run a LAN/internet gaming cafe joint. Most PCs are like or similar to what I have under my avatar. And I have over 53 of them. So my beef with all this is clear, my business is sensitive to this crap on so many levels.
Better job? I don;t do anything, taxes, oversight and collecting money. There is no better job. ;)

Fixed that. Consider the above case ^^

You could have all that, but if you are complaining about 1000 euro Titan, and if it's not worth 1000 euros to you - then such GPU is NOT for you. <- does it get any simple than that?
It does not matter that Titan costs only 1/8 of your speaker. And no Im not speaking about you "you"

I know... Its a weird situation.

yea, got you, my audiophile habits get the best of me too. :) Still, I do like custom made shoes :p

PS. I don't care about Titan! You misunderstood me, Titan is like my shoes, most people don't care or need it. It's a luxury item. It's fine!

I did not misunderstood you. It's you who mistook my "you" in
for you you. But it was a general you :D And I should have been more precise.

I used to upgrade every 12-18 months but I don't see that happening this time

8800gt-gtx280-gtx480-gtx670-gtx680-gtx780-gtx980 all in as many years as there have been cards.

The next upgrade will come whenever there is a 4ghz 6 core skylake for under $500aus...then I will feel like I am no longer putting new tires on an old car with my graphics cards.
