What I can decipher by that is that the driver posted by Asder is not the final version, and it already had a nice boost for Pcars, so I am a bit hopeful.

It is more a matter of mismanagement and resource allocation from the higher ups, than actual ability. AMD is producing amazing things hardware wise. They are behind the two new PC APIs, the four console APIs, and probably the best compute GPU architecture of the last decade.
I don't buy the "they don't have the ability" theory.

I can buy the "the management are incompetent", or the "driver money is for X amount of people and that's it" theory, but not the "they don't know how" theory.

Is the hardware more easily "fed", or is the driver thread 4 times smarter?
GCN is iterative. Pitcairn will be in the R9 300 series, it really has no reason not to. GCN 1.0 is more programmable than Maxwell.

I noticed why The Witcher 3 stutters a lot for me. It seems to switch from 2 cores 4 theads to 1 core 2 threads back and forth a lot. It doesn't utilize all my cores and barely any some times...

You mean in the usage pattern, or does it change the actual CPU affinity? :3eyes:

    Affinity stays the same.

    And what?

    There is "nobody" "programming it"!

The AMD driver is like a dumb monkey smashing the keyboard of a super computer!

    Of course!

When DX12 will be mainstream the AMD driver will act as TWO monkeys instead of ONE! :bang:

With DX12 there will be less reliance on AMD to provide functioning drivers. It will be on Microsoft and the game engine/developers.
AMD driver programmers can't be very good, either that or they don't get paid enough :)

    Now i feel better. :)

Yep this could be a solution:

Games developers with the help of Nvidia engineers (GameWorks) will fix all AMD games compatibility problems including CFX...

    WTF! :3eyes:

You never know, SLI and crossfire might be a thing of the past and done differently within the engine.

    GameWorks, well, that's another story.

That's a bit unfair, to tell you the truth. No matter the mistakes of the AMD driver, I have reached a point where my 7970 that I got for 350$ is in the same ballpark as the $1000 Titan released almost 8 months after it.

Apparently there is a Twitch video going on about the Witcher 3 from AMD people. I'm watching it now.

Please report if there are tag words different from "Gameworks broke all", "next week", "patience" and "DX12"...

None actually. There are some interesting insights on how games are made, and how GameWorks... works. I found it very interesting and more or less unbiased.

Most of what they talk about I was aware of from the Richard Huddy talk a while back... Pretty much the same thing going on now as back then. It won't change.
